Scratch Live vs Final Scratch
My friend is considering buying one. He's a hip hop DJ, which one do you guys think it's better? I own FS, but it's the old version. IMO, I don't like it much. I told him to invest into a pair of CDJs instead!
go for the cdj1000
I already have CDJs and Final Scratch....
This is for my friend!
I told him SCRATCH LIVE
Get Final Scratch v2.0 with the CDJ interface. It's the same thing as the vinyl version except you control it with CDs.

You can browse much easier on a laptop. The real revolution will come when CDJ's can play DVD audio. Then you will have 9.4 GB of music on 2 discs. You could play for days! |

woody tell your friend to get scratch live. the program is a lot more stable and you can search and record live into the program. if your friend wanted to scratch his own voice all he has to do is hit record. then the sample can be played on the record. also scratch sorts your music unlike traktor which sucks at sorting stuff. hope that answers any questions.

I think if you are going have to choose between Final Scratch and Serato Scratch, I would choose Serato Scratch. I have an earlier version of Final Scratch (1.2) and I was facing the same decision whether to upgrade to 2.0 with the rebate or go for Serato Scratch. I know for scraching and beat juggling was VERY bad on the earlier versions of Final Scratch due to the latancy and weird metallic sounds, but I think the new 2.0 should be better. Final Scratch 2.0 has some cool things like a key lock and recording. Serato seems to be much more stable compared to the older versions of Final Scratch, seems to run fine on slower/older hardware and their support forum is pretty helpful.
All that being said, I would tell your friend to save up and get the CDJ1000/800s.
If your friend plans on playing anywhere, there is more of a chance that the club will have one of those than a FS or Serato hookup. If he wants to practice beat juggling or scratching on real vinyl, he can get a couple of battle records.
i thought the 1000's could play mp3's....
strange cause my cdj 200 plays them.
