Going to Second Sun @ ten15 this weekend?

I was thinking about hitting this up and seeing both this act and this club for the first time. Is anyone else planning to go?

i'm probably going to hit up second sun @ ten15 this weekend. i've never seen them live, but my friends checked them out at ULTRA in Miami this year and said they did a sick show.

I'll be there!

Be Cool!

I haven't been to ten15 in almost two years... but I would like to check out Second Sun.

How is the ten15 scene these days? I've heard stories...

i'm wondering the same thing. i'm new to SF, and the only club i've been to is Ruby Skye.

I'm not a huge fan of the scene at 1015, but it seems to be the only club up here that brings in a steady flow of trance DJs. Vibe-wise, I'll take Spundae LA over any club up here. That being said, I do plan on going Saturday nite.

+1

My fav party has to be Spundae-Circus. I've been frequenting RS in recent years because Spundae has been hosting the big DJs there. But I'm a fair-weather clubber so I'll go wherever there is a DJ I like. To make the long story longer, I'll be there.

Ten15 is ... well, I dunno what Ten15 is.

They have remodelled the place a bit and the problem is though, the front room faaaaaaaaarrrrrr outshines any other room. I must say the front room is NOICE. The main room, they've added more sound (which is very unbalanced) and only has two screens in there now which I think is a bad thing. None of the old lighting people really work there anymore and you can tell bigtime as the lighting through the night is usually weak weak weak compared to what it used to be (it's the same system, but the person who is running the lights is also very important).

Never see Kryo anymore.

A/C doesn't seem to be turned on half the time.

I dunno, it's just weird there these days. The crowds are SURELY different...very aggro. I dunno, just such a rude, aggro crowd these days.

I like the OLD Ten15, then Circus, then Ruby Skye (which I used to hate, but it's gotten soooooo much better there) as far as Cali clubs go.

The new Ten15...probably like 6th or 7th on the list now\

Haven't been to Ruby in a while...1015 has definitely changed a lot since its heyday. Nothng beats Spundae at Circus imo. Its amazing how it is big and yet still keeps that friendly community atmosphere.

I hate how there's no bass in the front-middle of the main room, it's all along the backwall only. That's my main complaint about the place. And yeah the lighting isn't what it used to be...

You guys are getting me all excited about Circus-Spundae!

Wait till you see the massive space in the back. It should look much better in a months time.

Well, that's because the stage in the back of Ten15...well, that stage sites on top of a row of subwoofers. :-p

But yeah, right now, I think Circus easily takes the cake. The atmosphere is just so great in there. Can't wait to see the new chillout room.

So what other clubs or events do people like in SF, in terms of the crowd? What about venues like Mezzanine, Mighty, Paradise Lounge, etc? Or does it really depend on who's throwing the event that night?

Posted by DaveT on Aug-06-2005 00:38:

Yeah, depends. Mezzanine is usually always solid. Mighty can be. Don't like Paradise Lounge as it has no airflow and smells like horrid BO the times I've been there.

yeah, that's one thing that i found lacking at Ruby Skye, the friendly community atmosphere. back in New York, no matter how big the club or event, Ferry @ Avalon, PVD @ Crobar, everybody comes together, you can just feel the vibe. so is it Ruby Skye? the SF crowd? or did i just happen to go on a bad night?

btw, where's spundae @ circus? sf or la?

and see everyone at Second Sun!

my first time back to 1015 was for B&J since june of 2003. I thought it was pretty nice...plenty of room to dance and people were cool. not like it used to be, but nice...

I havent seen second sun live yet, so hopefully I can convince friends to come out to see them.

I have heard nothing but great things.

See you all there. Look out for a guy that's bouncing around in a black visor and McNabb jersey. That'll be me.

Just got back from 1015. This may have been the 2nd best set I've seen this year (the first being Above and Beyond a couple months ago at Spundae). Too bad they were only on for about an hour and a half. The 1015 crowd was better than usual. All in all, pretty damn good night.

Posted by nsx boy1 on Aug-07-2005 10:55:

I don't bout that, at least for me this has to be my 2nd worst event for this year (1st was Ferry @ RubySkye). Kinda disappointed at Second Sun, hmm maybe the crowd instead, or maybe is San Francisco, there ain't much vibe at the clubbin scene. Maybe its better off going to parties here instead. Plus everywhere else I've seen Ferry he was off the hook.

I must say I have a fucking AWESOME time last night...crowd aside.

Second Sun...well, they started off disappointing. Really slow and pretty boring, IMO...but interestingly enough, they started out saying they'd start of slow to the whole crowd, so wasn't amazed. Throughout their 90 minute act they slowly bumped up the speed with every track....and I'll say the last half of the act was $&*H@#**@# incredible. Loooooooooveedd it.

The reaction from peeps when they sung Crush was funnnnyyy....everyone was like, "that's a dude who says that?" ("I know you waannt meee...) -- everyone thought it was a girl.

Anyhow, the crowd, the vibe, etc was pretty bland until about the half way point of the set, too....but it was funny seeing how the main room was filling up as the their music got faster and faster. When all was said and done, the place was jumping, IMO.

They finished at about 2:30am and Gianni took over and tore the f'in place up. No one would leave! I was sooooooooo tired at this point as I went to bed Friday night at like 3:30am and woke up at 7:00am but Taj was making fun of me for yawning and forced some Red Bull down my throat and it actually did the job...was totally back into everything and frickin' looooooovvvvvvvveddd Gianni's set. Taj took over the decks a bit after 4:00am and was frickin' awesome as well...but by 4:30, 4:45, the Red Bull had worn off, could tell it was messing up my stomach so decided to leave before t hings got bad.

Interesting part of the night: When Second Sun was first coming on, my girlfriend and I started walking through the middle of the room up near the stage to take some pics...on the way, some dude grabbed my girls booty with force and I happened to see it and just about twisted the dude's arm off...he was all apologetic so I just got back into the music...about 10-15 minutes later, he did it to a girl next to us and she actually went and got security....two security guys came and I pointed out (repeat, pointed) that the guy did it to my girl, too....whelp, wrong thing to point at the dude because the security guy immediately locked my arm up in his...didn't hurt, but effective and never got mad over it -- he was just doing his job and protecting everyone. But after talking to him for a about 15 secs, was let go and about 10 more security dudes came up and kicked that ****** out with force, lol. All of his friends wanted to jump me, I could tell, so we retreated back up to the booth where we enjoy the rest of the night. In the end, I must say that the Ten15 security did an excellent job over this and must thank them!

Man I wanted to go see them after hearing them on Lost Episode w/ Victor Dinaire. Interesting they did a track with 80s mall queen Tiffany.
