--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FUTURE ENTERTAINMENT, FABRIC PROMOTIONS AND ECHO PRESENT...

HYBRID [UK]
Sun 2 Oct @ Black Cat

The legendary Swansea-based duo return to Adelaide, live and intimate for one night only at Black Cat Nightclub. Meeting sometime in the early-90s while working the British DJ circuit, who would have thought that their debut album, Wide Angle, (1999) would launch Mike Truman and Chris Healings, into a stratosphere occupied by few others, surprising anyone who thinks that dance music cant be clever, challenging and musically astute. Recorded in London, New York and Moscow with the Russian Federal Orchestra, their unique blend of slamming dance rhythms and classical orchestration earned them a US live tour supporting Moby (2000) that was met with rapturous applause at every stop (including celebrity groupies The X-Files Gillian Anderson and rocker Tommy Lee) that cemented their reputation as one of the hottest acts in dance music. Criss-crossing genres with their hybrid breaks meets progressive house and trance sound, they have become one of the most sought after remixers in the world, putting their production skills to use on tracks for artists as varied as Jazzy Jeff, Carl Cox, Alanis Morissette Future Sound of London and Radiohead. The second album, Morning Sci-Fi (2003) was the next ingenious step forward, crafting new influences around their ever-mutating breakbeat sound. However, their Hybrid presents Y4K (2004) mix for Distinctive brought Mike and Chris back to where it all began, being not only their first ever mix compilation, but an opportunity to capture the explosiveness of their live show in a DJ set.

More details to follow.

HI~!

I'm around somewhat.. haha final year at uni and all, busy doing my project...

For anyone that cares, had my first gig last weekend at adelaide uni spinnin house! ahaha was a blast. I thought I did alright considering how drunk I was.

Should be out for Hybrid, looks like the best event on so far,

Heh Mal are you playing at sugar this weekend?

Posted by Hybrid Junkie on Sep-22-2005 07:22:

Umm yeah, me and -M- might road/plane trip down for this.

Any news on how long the set will be though?
Can any Adelaidians give us a run-down of what BlackCat is like?

Hybid! =D

Black Cat is one of the best looking clubs in Adelaide. It holds a little over 500 id say. It also has awesome fucking sound, though the location isnt that great. It will be a crankin night though. I think Hybrid are playing for 2hrs, Mal correct me if im wrong.

Actually they are playing for a minimum 3hrs (probably more when they rock the fuck outta the joint!)

Hey guys. Im mixing up some proggy breaks goodness from midnight tomorrow night on Fresh FM in preperation for Hybrid. Check it out if ya wanna hear what the night may have in store. I'll be dropping plenty of Hybrid tracks and remixes.

As for Black Cat's location I quite like it....

It's off the beaten track enough for parking to be ample. Plus the Lebanese place next door serves up a tasty hot dog at 3am.

Yea I think the location is good, as long as you are making a night of it there, otherwise it makes for a fun drunk walk somewhere else! hah maybe to the loft?! That place still around?

Also good that its not a street full of drunk yobos and as for the club itself I think its great inside, really good when they have the side part open with the couches and pool tables, so you can have a seat and a few beers and actually hear your mates.

So wheres gumble? He coming out to this? Or does it still classify to him as shit music because you can dance to it?
