if you could spell a proper title How could I " Pimp Up My Booth# ?? maybe you'd get more answers

You need an Original Bozak mixer with custom modded technics decks for a start

im in the process of sorting my dj gear out. gonna be building a custom desk which is going to be fun since I have some damn cool ideas (storage/equipment arrangement etc)..

Also looking to be purchasing a 17" tft to wallmount (in black since im trying to keep to my black colour scheme). Then a mini keyboard so I can control my (also custom built) pc running traktor. Im currently using a 21" crt monitor which is a hooge mofo and a normal size keyboard.

As for pimp equipment? I dont have *that* much money to cain on a Xone V6 and a pair of those bling 1210 glod mk5g's. just that would set you back around 4500!!!

Buy a blacklight and get some neon lights.

pimp my booth:

custom dj table/stand holding:
1x Serato Scratch Live
3x reflective blue Technics 1200 M3D (sunk in)
3x Pioneer CDJ-1000Mk2
1x Ecler Nuo 4 DJ mixer
1x Pioneer EFX-1000
1x Mac G5 prepped with Ableton Live/SSL Software
2x Mackie SRM-450 active monitor premounted on the stand
2x colored lamps, blue, the type that don't bother, but give off a glare good enough to read to
storage room for at least 200 records.

WHOAMGWTFIJUSTGOTOFF!?!?!?!?!!?!?

Edit: Except replace the Ecler Nuo with and A&H Xone 92

In the process of pimping mine now..... soo close to finishing it, Im covered in paint as I type this (just taking a break)

Watch this space....

Posted by Ryan0751 on Aug-05-2005 13:19:

I think you could do a little better than that

Why the Nuo-4? How about a Xone 92 or V6? Maybe the new Pioneer DJM-1000?

And CDJ-1000's? Get with it and pick up 3 DJV-X1's instead, along with an Edirol V-4 video mixer.

And don't forget a Funktion-One dance stack system for the basement.

Now that sounds like the booth for me! hehe... although I think I would swap out the Ecler for a A&H V6 with the valve option on each channel and 3 of EQ modules sunk into the table.

Posted by Inertia on Aug-05-2005 15:07:

why the nuo4 you ask?

simple:
it was late.
i was a bit drunk.

but, in my defense:
you'd need a good MIDI controller to run Ableton and do some nice stuff, and the one i'm thinking of i just CANNOT remember the name, so i picked the nuo4 because it's the only DJ mixer that is also a fully fledged MIDI controller, apart from being an excellent mixer in its own. and even 'pimp my booth' can't get you a Xone:92:CTRL or a Maven controller, so that was out of the question.

i skipped the lights and stuff because it's pimp my booth, not my basement. i also tried to keep things somewhat realistic. face it, a Xone:v6 mixer is just waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overkill for a bedroom setup. unless you run a complete audiophile basement sounsystem, you're gonna have a couple thousand dollars worth of sound quality that you won't be using. in that interest, i also went against the DVJ's, as that's not something a 'DJ' has, rather a video/disc jockey, so i didn't know if it would qualify, not to mention, i have little to no knowledge on Edirol video mixers and whatnot...

is there really a need for 3 TTs + 3 CDJs + SSL

when your pimpin your booth, does it really need to make sense, no. throw in a cdj-200 for good measure too.

Posted by Basstard on Aug-05-2005 15:54:

good point boomer

can we install a hoover underneath the booth while we're at it then?

fixed!

hehe

I disagree... we are all becoming "media jockey's". If you can throw up a DVD once in a while during a set, why not?

I saw some pictures of an event where Oakenfold and a few other big names were spinning and their were DJV's in the booth. I don't know if they used them other than just fancy CDJ players (aka Pioneer marketing).

As for a midi controller, I think you might need more midi control than what a midi-enabled mixer provides. Perhaps a custom built controller?

well, what would be the point of having a DVJ if you're not really gonna use it to it's full extent? pimp my friend, don't waste

and i'm no guru, but i hear the nuo4 is more than just MIDI enabled, rather a full controller. go read up, perhaps i'm wrong, but i don't feel like researching now...

well. yeah. you gotta remember many DJ's like to use more than 2 decks at once. that way, if you spin 3 deck techno, like to sample stuff in, layer acapellas or whatnot, you can, in any combination you want:
3 vinyls
3 CDs
vinyl + CD
vinyl + SSL
cd + SSL
vinyl + CD + SSL

and if you're feeling crazy, vinyl + CD + SSL + ableton.

no limits or boundaries. i personally hate it when it's 3 vinyl decks, and 2 cd decks, and i feel like doing a 3 deck mix (i'm a CD DJ)

i want my booth pimped i only have a xone 92r, 2 st-150's, furman power conditioning, and a crown amp.

Posted by Greedy on Aug-08-2005 23:34:

i would have your whole setup sitting on a metal vent with a portable A/C unit blowing cold air to keep all that cool. THAT would be pimp. Nothing is pimp when your "pimp booth" overheats and shuts down. HAHA.

Man, cover everything in pink fur and wear some platform shoes while you are at it... Real Mack daddy style. Get a cane and put a plaque up on the wall that says "Pimp of the Year 1975" and have a banner that says... "Be somebody... Be a ho!".

Screw all the new mixers... Get a Rosie. The Orginal made by the bloke from Schindlers list... No not Liam Neason but the bloke who really was on the list.

Cheers
Nem

Personally, I'd lost one Tech and one DVJ, and replace the two with two Stanton 150s. Then you have 4 decks, 2 techs for those who like those and 2 150s. But thats just me. Maybe have two Denon 5000s so in reality you have 4 CD decks that way. Oh, and some Picotto style headphones too, now THEY'RE pimp!

Then we can finally work out which TT is better too! Two birds with one stone.
