I'm a big fan of Jason Mraz, Scissor Sisters, Gorillaz, and Nikka Costa. The Gorillaz are technically "electronica", but they have a bit more of a hip-hop influence.
The Verve (sadly no longer together)
Oasis
Travis
Coldplay
Maroon 5
Keane
Green Day
Scissor Sisters
Quite alot of indie music tbh
Muse
Keane
Greenday
offspring
RHCP
Foo Fighters

Hooverphonic (probably my favourite band ever)
Cinephile
Sutrastore
Goldfrapp
Frou Frou
Dido
Amongst others.
Coldplay.........is so dull and lifeless, my opinion
a lot of female singers:
patty griffin, aimee mann, lene marlin, shawn colvin, fisher, heather nova, jewel, joss stone, norah jones, katie melua, michelle branch, rachel yamagata, the corrs, vanessa carlton, sarah mclachlan (duh), enya, roxette,...
lots of jazz the last few years. lots of oldies too, i just love music from the 50-60s.
I can keep going on...
I consider myself eclectic, though i listen to more EDM than anything else. Here's a tiny sample:
Rock: Influence of being brought up in Orkney (Scottish islands), which is stuck in an 80s timewarp.
AC/DC
G'n'R
U2
Bon Jovi
Hendrix
FolkAgain, Orkney influence
Clarsach (celtic harp)
Shetland/Irish fiddle music
Classical: Classically trained, so I always hold a soft spot for the classical.
Rachmaninov piano works
Rutter choral works
Ligeti 'Atmospheres'
Gershwin piano.
Tori Amos (not really Classical but the roots are there)
Jazz: Written during the American depression, the music just went crazy and always makes me smile
Pasadena Roof Orchestra
Miles Davis
Erroll Garner
Ella Fitzgerald
