good mp3 players for listening to LONG dj sets
basically i'm looking for an mp3 player (10GB +) which is very easy and quick to move sets along, for example i might like the last hour of a three hour set and rather than holding down >> which takes fecking ages i want to be able to scroll along through the track like you can do with media player or winamp. as far as i can tell the ipod can do this although does cause issues with battery life? are there any other mp3 players that can do this,
muchos thank you COR.
Sony NW HD3 game set match
I had a creative mp3 player with 40 gig, never had any probs with it.

| Originally posted by kid nyce i dont think so, the hd3 size is nice too and the battery life is official. i can go like 3-4days with average use (train to and from work, at the gym) before i even need to think about recharging. the hd5 looks kinda bulky ala ipod knock off. the only thing that really sucks about sony is the software to transfer the files. seriously it sucks but if you can deal with it and get it to do the essential (xfer, rename) you should be fine. |
I enjoy my iPod pretty much specifically becauuse of how easy it is to move around in DJ sets...
iPod is the way to go. Especially if you use iTunes. 8)

On my iRiver ihp-120, I use a setting called something like study mode or something so that when you move the little control stick over, it jumps forwards/backwards 2 minutes instead of switching tunes. Makes getting through sets a lot easier. Granted, on big ass sets, it will still take awhile, but it's good enough for me. Plus I don't have to use gay ass iTunes.

Forget about iPods, theyre overrated, overpriced, and id rather be shot dead than be seen in public with that trendwhore piece of shit.
The HD5 is the same size (basically) as the HD3 however, its battery lasts 10 hours longer and is REMOVABLE.
If i were buying an HD mp3 player, itd be ONLY the HD5. oh yeah, sony mp3 players are the only ones that are capable of gapless playback (via atrac, which isnt bad).
HD5 sells for around 280 dollars on ebay, and sonicstage is constantly improving (DRM is removed, unlike iTunes, check with new releases).
ENJOY!
I know from experience that the iPod has problems with really large sets. I'm not sure what the specific numbers are, but I know that for a couple of Sasha and James Zabiela sets that I've got that are around 6 hours long, the iPod freezes up if I try to fast forward more than a couple of minutes.
yeah my iPod battery is being a douchebag already
