Urgent: Hookah Help

So I bought my first hookah today! It's a 19" single-hose.. nothing fancy.

I'm just having a bitch of a time getting the charcoals to light the tobacco well. I'm holding the charcoal in the tongs over a flame till they start sparking.. then I put them on the metal part with the holes that sits over the bowl while sucking in. What the hell is going wrong?

I dunno man.. the first bowl I loaded lit really well and quick.. second one.. no luck.

make sure you don't put too much tobacco, and make sure it's not clogged

I'm using pipe filters to cover the holes.. i'm so lame...
