Ratio of Liberals to Conservatives

Just curious, but;

What would you all say is the ratio on this board of Liberals to Conservatives?

Posted by Shakka on Aug-09-2005 16:19:

I thought we agreed soclialist = commies.

Well, I wouldn't classify Smiley as a communist - but I reckon that he's a bona fide socialist. And if I changed the label to communist, where would he fit in? He's not liberal, not a fundie, and definitely not a conservative.
But you're cheating: You've gotta state your numbers.

Yawp, uh-huh, yeee-haw!

Posted by rainbow_marble on Aug-09-2005 17:10:

i wouldnt clump everyone on this board into the 'liberals' and 'conservatives' but there are definetely more people with an overall liberal take on issues. id say around 4:1

Posted by ali92 on Aug-09-2005 17:38:

What about authoritarian and non-authoritarian? Should this be in the liberal/conservative mix too? At least a political test site has it tabled up & all.

Posted by josh4 on Aug-09-2005 17:49:

are the classifications for these groups really that global? i would expect the interpreations to vary a little or a lot across different borders. i have a hard time believing a liberal in the US is the same as a liberal in Ireland or whathaveyou

Posted by Aquarian on Aug-09-2005 18:03:

isn't a "liberal" in the US just a less conservative conservative?

And yeah, I'd say probably something like 3:1 or 4:1.

Ok, so I'll state it for the record: I believe just like a saussage-fest, the ratio in here is not good.

Posted by Yoepus on Aug-09-2005 18:34:

of course the easiest way to find this out would be a poll to ask people what they think they are with only two options "liberal" or "conservative" and no middle or "im both" gayass option.

That way you let the people decide what they see themselves as.

Even though I have liberal tendancies for instance I see myself as a conservative.

Same here;

I'm actually a registered Libertarian, but even then, I don't adhere doggedly to their entire platform...it just happens to be the closest to my beliefs;

Right to Bear Arms
Legalize Drugs
Minimalize Government (not as much though as Lib.'s are asking for)
Lower taxes (again, not as much as Lib.'s want though)

...to name a few convictions.

Also an athiest who happens to beleive that abortion IS murder, but it also should still be legal............yah, I have a lot of fun explaining that one to people.

Posted by Aquarian on Aug-09-2005 18:50:

The only thing in there that sounds liberal is the arms thing.

Actually, in the U.S., being pro-gun is considered expressly a CONSERVATIVE trait.

Posted by squirrelly on Aug-09-2005 21:47:

You're asking about the entire board? I doubt any one of us could have that answer.

Though if you're asking about the PDD, that's a different story. But who are you? Why do you care? WHO SENT YOU HERE?!

No really, a lot of new people sprouting up.
