Paradise In The City [26/27-08-2005], Lyon, France

Hi guys!
I guess the first thing you did when seeing the thread title was smiling or something like that...

At the end of the month, there will be the first Trance Event in France.
As you know, the french territory isn't famous for his trance scene...But it starts to develop really fast, especially for 1 year. With the likes of Airwave, Misja Helsloot, Rank 1, JOC, G&D, Precision, Scott Bond, Perry O'neil, Ferry Corsten and more, french TA now have the chance to get Trance parties on their own country...

So what's up for August in France?

In a nice park for the afternoon, and in a club for the night, will perform some foocking trance DJs like

Day 1

TA FR DJ Team (aka DJ Stan & DJ Rafon)
Niklas Harding
John O'Callaghan
Sonicvibe
DJ Precision Vs. Misja Helsloot
Menno De Jong
Mark Norman
NU NRG (Live Act)
Rank 1
Above & Beyond
Madwave

Day 2

Vega
Majesty
Niklas Harding
John O'Callaghan
Precision Vs. Misja Helsloot
Everest (Live Act + DJ Set)
Signum
Agnelli & Nelson
John '00' Fleming
Dany

And for those who can't make it to Lyon, ETN.fm is gonna stream the whole event...

A few tickets are still available, for infos look at the end of the thread...

Any chance to see you there???

I hope this goes well, would be good if the party made a good impression for trance music in France. The lack of it has always made me curious why, even though I am very far away.

So any guesses as to why trance is so lacking in France?

(specifically trance in France I wouldn't want to tangent this thread into another flaming heap of "why don't you like trance' drama)

it's difficult to explain... People love trance when a trance dj plays in a club, but the club manager don't support trance, because the omgrap&rnb&ericprickz radios FM don't support trance!

Posted by SPANIARD on Aug-25-2005 15:32:

This looks like the best line up I've seen this year by percentage (I listen to 90% of these artists). From the day I saw this I said that I couldn't put a better party together.

Cheers to anyone who is going, it's an honour!

This is looking very promising

We have a quite developed electronic music scene, but that is a lot more underground than in the rest of Europe... free parties, or djs such as laurent garnier, miss kittin'.
Trance is quite unknown here, and should be played in clubs. But the clubbing scene here is very poor, most people don't goto clubs for the music, but just to meet some chicks and have a drink... most of them don't care about the music. Clubs are flooded with R&B, hip-hop or some old pop. And in our "electronic music scene" i already talked about, trance (when people know what is hidden behind) is seen as a very commercial genre.

And yeah: radios, medias totally ignore this genre. We don't have big events to promote this type of music. If you like electronic music, it's for the drugs. This is not only in France naturally, but maybe it's even worse here ? since our scene is more "underground".

Tomorrow's event is a bliss, that's mostly thanks to a few persons (like Dj Dany) who take really big risks...

Broadcasted on ETN, so, HF

From what I can tell, the organiser fucked up bigtime

Posted by swisstoni_uk on Aug-26-2005 22:21:

Bah major letdown from some piss-poor nooby organisers who probably thought they could handle a big event with some big names but failed miserably. Thanks to Etn though for actually working to stream this, even though it collapsed.

Was the screw up intentional or just a mistake ?
