Basic Equipment question
I've been saving up for turntables for a long time now, and I finally have gotten the cash for them. Now I need to decide where to buy my tables and mixer from. SHould I just get them from a store like guitar center or should I go for ebay? If ebay should I buy brand new decks or maybe try my luck with used because im just starting out? If anyone can help me out it would be much appreciated.
in my humble opinion, i would never trust ebay for anything electronic, let alone with a value like you're gonna pay. yes it should save you some money, but what is the garante that they will work properly. i say go to your local shop and buy them, after you try them out, plus that way you'll have a bit more of a garante...
but that's me being picky, and not comfortale with purchasing equipment online.

I hear guitar center is pretty good, plus they can price match (or so I hear)
I think there is TA who works at some place so you can get a deal through him, someone else will know more.
I agree with the above, about eBay.
i bought my equipments from ebay, but i also like to play russian roulette
OR you could try the wanted/for sales forum here. i haven't been overly screwed from here, yet...

cool thanks i saw one of those numark dj in box sets at a local pawn shop just didn't know if the were any good.
try seeing if you have a friend that has a setup, and see if you can sugar him up to let you try it out...b/c if you like it then you're better off spending a bit more money and getting a more decent setup than a dj in a box setup. yes they come with speaker and all...but soon after you'll become limited and want to expand only to spent more money...up to you
but ishouldn't be talking...i have an almost complete setup without any cdjs or tts (although i'll go for cdjs when i haev enough money).

If you need a hook up on equipment, contact DJ Tranz, he works for DJ Mart/Pro Audio America, he can get you a good deal on new stuff. As for ebay, I too like to play russian roulette and did buy both my Techs from ebay, and luckily they both work great and as well were in great condition.
