Need Good Reggae
Alright guys. I've recently been getting really into the sweet sounds of reggae.
So far, I really only know a few good artists so my collection is definitely slim. Basically I'm listening to Lyndval Thompson, Marley & the Wailers and Peter Tosh.
That's about it.
Can anyone offer me some other good artists and songs to listen to?

damien marley!

Hey man.. thanks for that. Just the kind of sound I'm looking for.
On a side note.. I really fucked up that name up there in my original post. It's Linval.. not whatever I typed. Yep.
My forte is mainly Bob Marley and a shit-ton of spanish reggae.
im sure you wouldnt want the spanish reggae, but would you like any recommendations for some marley songs?

sounds like you're looking for roots (socially conscious) reggae.
for an old-school roots feel try:
black uhuru
burning spear
toots & maytals
junior reed
jimmy cliff
israel vibration
for newer roots-style:
buju banton (post 1995)
junior gong (damien marley)
capleton (post 1994)
burro banton
I'll just give you some songs you should have if you don't, Bob Marley and The Wailers.
Bob Marley & The Wailers:
Jamming
Crazy Baldheads
Kinky Reggae
Babylon System
Lively Up Yourself
Three Little Birds
Sun is Shining
Buffalo Soldier
Iron Lion Zion (try to get the 12" version)
Roots, Rock, Reggae
Natural Mystic
Don't Rock the Boat
I Shot the Sherrif
On the more romantic side:
Is This Love
Could You Be Loved
Turn the Lights Down Low
Stir it Up
Peter Tosch:
Downpressor Man

It's Dancehall, but close enough.
I love reggae. I have a couple of hundred reggae tracks on vinyl, from the years when my mom was younger. It's really nice to listen to when I want something other than electronic music
edit: I don't know much about the reggae that releases now-days so I don't think I can help you with the "new" reggae.
My old friends "the pot smokers" used to love Alpha Blondie.
