Ipod question

I want to transfer some tracks from my ipod to my computer is there any way to do this? I know you can transfer tracks from your computer to your ipod but what about the other way around. help please!

I dont think there is a way to do that.

the tracks are in hidden folders with random names
unless you use eph pod copy the tracks to ipod then rebuild the db

Yes you can, very easily.

Plug the iPod in and go into iTunes, it will appear there, make sure you click no when it asks you if you want to switch to this iTunes libary. Then on the ipod, right click > ipod options > tick manually manage playlists.

You can also get a program, there are thousands out there, check ipodlounge, I belive they have some sort of software listing that will help you.

That wont work. That only allows you to copy songs to the ipod, not from.

They are in hidden folders with numbers as names. All you have to do is mount the ipod, and search (as in the windows search function) for the songs you want and copy them over. Make sure you have under advanced options "search hidden files and folders" selected.

May I recommend the best plugin ever created: ml_iPod

This is a plugin for winamp that allows you to copy songs TO and FROM the ipod, (which iTunes doesn't allow you to do). Now you can finally rid yourself of iTunes. *shudder*

^^ Personally I love iTunes and I don't even have an iPod. I just really like the format and layout of the program.

Im sure there are many programs that can do this. One that I used a while back is called SharePod and maybe PodUtil also check out ipodlounge like r5a said.

I agree! Even though iTunes eats of the CPU, it has everything I need anyways. I don't have the time nor the patience to learn commands for command-based operating systems or to download 100+ plugins.

ipod is such a crock of shit. why on earth is copying from the ipod disabled? and i hate how apple tries to force itunes to everyone now. installing quicktime is a hassle now, because they practically force itunes on you. i don't understand why would someone buy an mp3 player that need some gay program to work and still doesn't work like the user wants it to and is expensive too. BAH! i'd rather get a good mp3 player that shows as an external storage device and no silly programs are needed to copy music to and from it!

ipod, itunes, apple and mac are all gay IMO (although they look good). i guess it's just the "easy to use" thing that attracts n00bs and "normal people" who don't know how to use anything.

Well I actually bought Anapod Universal Edition. Now that I think of it, it was pricey ($30) but at the time I was very enthusiastic since I had just bought the ipod. Anapod is great and user friendly, drag and drop function is very good. You can play songs from the ipod in any computer as long that the software is installed. If you are really interested you can PM me and maybe I could sell it to you for a reasonable price.

iPods are stupid. Apple is simulating a similar mini-monopoly over portable music devices as Microsoft did with Windows. But who was it five years ago that kept bashing Microsoft for causing a mini-monopoly on the OS world? Fucking hyprocriting scums.
