Missy Elliott featuring Ciara & Fat Man Scoop - Lose Control (Vocal Mix)

Does anyone else think this is a good song? I think it's remarkably well produced, and I was shocked to learn that Missy Eliot herself was behind it. The bass is pitch perfect, some of the vocal effects are interesting and the overall effect of the song is top-notch. The lyrics may be wanting a bit, but for the atmosphere it's suited for, theyre perfect. I really appreciate her studio abilities after hearing this song.

Missy Elliot is definitely very talented. Jacques lu Cont's remix of this track is pretty hot.

I just heard a rip of it, I liked it as well.

The bass and effects in this track are very akin to a particular acid techno production i'll probly employ in my mix. I shan't disclose the track tho ;p

missy elliot didnt do shit.

download: cybotron - clear

all she did was sample

Yeah. Rappers have nothing to do with the actual music behind their rhyming, and the people who do just sample music from before 1985, usually Funk, Soul, and Disco records. In this case Electro.

Reminds me alot of the old electro "Afrika Bambataa" type stuff.

yes, it's interesting how deep sampling can go, similar to cover songs.

I try not to look too deeply into it. If a track's good it speaks for itself.

Posted by Aiwendil on Aug-13-2005 13:22:

Yeah I wonder why it sounds like old Electro. Oh yeah, it uses an Electro track from 1983. Actually it sounds like new and old Electro, since new Electro pretty much sounds the same except for equipment improvements.

In case you've been living under a rock in an attempt to avoid pop culture, Missy now weighs half of what she once did.

I'm surprised you're surprised that Missy Elliot produced this. Shes one of the few hip hop artists thats actually talented, especially when it comes to the studio.

Where's Ory when you need him, i'm sure he'd have the right phrase for this situation.

Thast right, cause when you sample you don't ahve to do anything else. She is a cheater.

and I need to start sampling.

Missy's entire album "The Cookbook" which features this song is pretty good. It's not your typical commercial rap/hip-hop sound. Timbaland and The Neptunes produced a few of the tracks, and I consider them to be some of the best producers.

Agreed!

Cybotron - Clear
Missy Elliott - Lose Control

Missy Elliott didn't do anything, and her producer, pretty much all he did was sample. That's what hip hop producers do, sample. They don't make original tracks.

I think what was worse is Nelly pissing all over a Spandau Ballet classic.

Posted by Aiwendil on Aug-14-2005 06:56:

Who said it was bad? This is the best rap song i've ever heard.

Some hip hop producers do make original tracks.
