Smiley DJ The Past 2 Weeks at Guv......

ROCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mark Killed it..... AGAIN! We left at about 3:30 due to the fact that Samhouse has to work at 10am. Mark played incredible from the moment I walked in till the second I walked out the door. If we didn't leave at that minute we would have never been able to leave because the TUNES Mark was playing were amazing!

The past 2 weeks at Guv was a reminder of how lucky we are to have such a dedicated and talented DJ at our doorstep every week. Mark Oliver keeps getting better and better every time I see him. His mixing is marvelous and his song selection was a great mix of new tunes and some classic tracks.

I think that we need to stand up and cheer for the one and only Mark Oliver.... He lets people come into his office every week and take the controls, but is always ready with one last song for his dying fans. Thanks you Mark... I appreciate everything you have done for us.

last week was 7 MENTAL hours of trance and techno...this week the diversity showed with some wicked house. From Acid to Tech and Progressive to Tribal, he touched on it all in the few hours we were there. SOOO many new tunes i've never heard before. Anyone who saw me last night will agree that I was having a blast. that remix of that old picotto track (somone plz id this so i can slap myself) right at the end was crazy!!

LOVE YA MARK...keep rockin that main room floor for years to come!!!!

I'm not the biggest MO fan, but I have to admit he was kicking some serious ass last night!

i have never been a fan of mark oliver and do not think i ever will be. i so think he is very talented but do not like djs that cannot stick to one genre. you should either be a house dj, a breaks dj, a trance dj or a techno dj... not all four. some genres do sound good when mixed together (ie. house & breaks) so it is okay to slip a few breakbeat tracks into a house set. playing a set that is all over the electronic map, to me, is poor programming.

if playing all over the map is good then DJ Danny D is a wonderful dj!!

I second that!
The past two weeks have been amazing. Mark Oliver is one wonderfully talented man. He knows how to play with the crowd/work the crowd up perfectly. He always knowing what WE want to hear and not neccessarily what he wants to listen to all night i.e house all night. His HUGE selection of tracks is great, as you just never know what to expect next, and thus always keeps ya begging for more.
And yes the fact that we can just step outside our front doors and be seeing him in 20 minutes makes it even greater, and we are very lucky for that.

I couldnt have said it any better, excellent work Lauren!

And yes thank you Mark Oliver!!

Being able to mix all genres shows a technically excellent DJ, no?

And why not mix whatever genre you like? You love music; play whatever type of music you want.

MO can read a crowd better then most DJs. His ability to lay down 9 hr sets on a regular basis is amazing. The Toronto crowd is lucky to have such a talent. I get more hyped about seeing a mark 9hr set then most guest nights at Guv.

couldnt disagree more. I hate djs who play the same shit all night. If im going out for 3-8 hours i want to hear all types of music. (except hiphop of course)Its easy to bang out nothing but tribal house or nothing but epic trance all night but i find that incredibly boring. Thats partially why i like djs like mark along with coxy, tenaglia etc...

They have a style uniquely theirs but it trancends a music's genre.

Hopefully you guys will put your money where your mouth is and vote for mark (along with other toronto djs) for djmag's poll. Lets get some of our own up there for once instead of constantly propping up guys like tiesto and PVD who we know are going to get the votes anyways. Let everyone else vote for them. We need to take care of our own!

I completely agree there...providing the set "works". Plenty of DJs do this quite well. Mark Oliver, James Zabiela and Danny Teneglia to name a few...TA's own Aaron Mossey does the same.

The key is flow...no one wants to hear a melodic trance track immediately followed by dirty breaks, lol...but find a way to make that set flow from one to the other and you're a damn good DJ, IMHO!

Mark pretty much picked up where he left off, with variety of House/Tech-house that would blow your mind...

The last song played was Roman Flugel - Gets Noch(definitely a wicked track). I really love the song he played right before that, Nalin & Kane - open your eyes. That song is amazing to finish off a night. i always have a great time with the world is mine(im listening to it right now). some of the tracks played last night were questionable, like that 50 cent - candy shop mix, hehe. whatever MO is definitely one of my all time favorites, and i was more than pleased to have a double dose of him the past two weeks. I can't imagine living in a world where Guv hadn't snatched up Oliver.

Mark Oliver, Love ya man

LOL, sorry dude. I don't remember were i was around that time, or what was playing, but i'm sure it was good. I guess i just assume everyone leaves at 7.

You have to admit that those two tracks at the end of a night are insane
