Are you stating or are you asking?

There should be a folder on your computer that holds all your favorites.

Posted by sensorium on Aug-17-2005 02:28:

No. It is highly recommended that you switch back to Internet Explorer.

Reboot, or use your task manager to close firefox. This should reset back to your default profile.

1.0.4 not good enough?

Okay where the heck is the favorite folders stored?

Posted by tribu on Aug-17-2005 02:42:

just fyi, ive got 1.0.6

Posted by fastmp3 on Aug-17-2005 02:47:

trancestuff the latest one is 1.0.6

OOOH!!! Ouch! You're not getting them back. Forget it.

Tell me, do you remember some screen asking you to make a profile with a silhouette of a man? DID YOU SEE THAT? and Did you click OK or something just so it would stop bugging you?

That screen is the screen of doom. You have to end firefox's process if you see it destroys everything.

I looked on forums for advanced users, asked many people, etc. What happens is your bookmarks aren't 'missing', but deleted. Permanently.

So what I do now, is back up all the time. When I have too many bookmarks, I export them(useful) and save them somewhere safe. Like on a CD.

Now I have like 40 bookmark files, filled with websites.

edit:Oh yeah, and even if you didn't see that, you should still upgrade and regularly export your bookmarks, just in case they get deleted by surprise.

I'm too lazy to give you the forums I went to, they're in my old bookmarks.

Okay I just d/l 1.0.6 hopefully the random resent won't happen again. However, I still can't retrieve my old favorites. Alternatively, can't seem to locate the favorite folder.

Baahhhh crapola

Can't afford it, huh? It's okay to be poor.

Heed my warning! You don't want this to keep happening to you.

Purhaps I can help, Go to the C Drive and into the Documents and Settings folder, Go into the folder of the name of the account that your using on this PC, Go into the Application Data Folder, You will see a folder in there called Mozilla, In there you'll find the Firefox folder, Go into it and you will see four things, a folder called Profles, and there are 3 files, pluginreg, profiles, and registry, Click the file called profiles, That will be an ini file that will open into Notepad. Next go into the Profiles folder and you will see another folder within it with an unusual name, For example a name something like this w7wor7ey.default But it might be different on yours, What you need to do is right click over this folder and then click on properties, The white bar thats displaying the name of the folder, Click on it to highlight the name, And then right click over and click copy, Thats will copy the name of that folder, Now look into the notepad where you opened the profiles.ini file in, In notepad you would see something like this as an example.
[General]
StartWithLastProfile=1

[Profile0]
Name=default
IsRelative=1
Path=Profiles/w7wor7ey.default

Now that you copied the name of the folder that was inside that profiles folder, Simple paste the name where you see w7wor7ey.default for example, It will rename that section to what the name of that folder is, Once you do that, On notepad, click file then save, It will save the ini file, Now open Firefox again and your bookmarks and such will be back.

CTRL+ALT+DEL ->Task Manager ->Processes ->close all Firefoxes running...or restart your PC.

If it still doesn't work, search for the file: bookmarks.htm on your PC. If it's the one you're looking for, import all the bookmarks again.

OR

Start -> Run ->firefox.exe -profilemanager

and re-select your default profile (or whichever profile had the bookmarks.)

If none of those work, you're fucked

Being indigent isn't the point here On that note, it's okay to be ignorant and settle for mediocrity - your loss not mine.

Try what I just posted, I think the reason why you are having this problem cause your firefox profile is not linking to where your actual profile is.
