I'm confused!

I could have sworn that I voted in this DJ mag thing far more recently than 12 months ago.

Is this an annual vote, and how long are polls open for? And with all the fuss about Tiesto winning a public vote last time, was it in fact this very same DJ Mag award, or was it something different?

1. Marco V
2. DJ Mikey Mike
3. Disco Boomer
4. Ferry Corsten
5. James Zabiela

1. Armin
2. Sasha
3. Hernan Cattaneo
4. Markus Schulz
5. Andrew Bennett

And NO Tiesto is not the best anymore. All he can do is posing for the audience. He made no outstanding productions and it seems like he nearly lost all of his mixing skills. His transitions are terrible compared to Armin, PvD or Ferry Corsten (I picked these 3 trancers, I know Sasha & co had bigger mixing abilities but they spin other sound).

1/ Terje Bakke
2/ Hernan Cattaneo
3/ Andrew K
4/ Paul van Dyk
5/ Laurent Vronnez

he seems to signify the typical british listener, who hasn't branched out yet. indications of this are his allegiance to "the judge" and his liking of people like gtr & tiesto. As he gets cooler, he'll start listening to more pete tong, probably add sasha & cattaneo in there, deep dish, and then become a house-whore like the majority of over 25s in the uk who believe that trance is just for kiddies. Failing this, he'll get over trance & join the tim westwood movement (Its like ab owel movement only much uglier)

2. Mauro Picotto
3. Marco V
4. Johan Gielen
5. Blank & Jones

plz be nice to him. he's just 3 months around here, what should he think about us?

Rank 1, Fred Baker, Alex M.o.r.p.h

I'd like to know the reasons each person has for his vote. Which criterias do you use to classify the DJs???

For some DJs I find not a single reason for voting them and so I wonder why other people vote them???

alot of ppl vote for some not because of their dj skills but because of their productions. so must be the case when it comes to Alex Morph, Rank1 and Fred Baker. Does Fred Baker even DJ?

yeah and that's the big problem. Isn't it meant to be a DJ Vote???

And you can not compare productions with djing. Few great DJs make outstanding productions and few outstanding producers are good DJs.

This whole vote is crap. In the end Tiesto wins and he can tour around the world for one more year and get even richer. But he definetly hasn't earned the right to be announced #1 DJ of the world. Nor his productions, mixing skills or character give me a reason for voting him #1.

1. Sasha : Fundacion & his recent sets that i've heard = nuts

2. Paul Van Dyk : always was a favorite of mine and almost all sets i hear frome him really deliver

3. John Digweed : all recent sets and even his GUs from back in the day kill. quality shit

4. Ferry Corsten : was also always a favorite of mine. him & pvd are basically the only two trance djs i still listen to

5. Sharam of Deep Dish : saw him live in July and fuckin loved it. great mixing and track selection. pretty similar to his EM but still a great set and the best live act i've seen.

Hernan would be 6th but there isnt room... sorry hernan

Posted by Rockabye on Aug-19-2005 09:36:

yeah Sasha is the best. Fundacion is by far the best compilation this year and his mixing skills are incredible.

I just don't vote him on 1 because I mainly listen to trance.
