basic question about the pio efx500....
did a search, and really dont feel like searching through pages upon pages for this...but...
i just saw a video demo of somebody using it with a cdj1000, and seems like it can add a lot on the creativity side to mixing.
but when using the efx500 with just two TTs, will i be limited to what i can do with this dohicker???
and does anybody happen to spin dnb and use the efx500...will it work well or will it just sound like a bunch of pots and pans being thrown down the stairs??? lol
No you wont be limited with it at all.
I use- and see plenty of others use it- with predominantly vinyl and it doesnt hamper it at all.
With d'n'b you have an extra bonus, in that it is so fast, you can halve the BPM on the effects, and if you like can have a 2 bar loop as opposed to the one bar you are normally restricted to.
You cant do that until the music exceeds 150 ish bpm (i forget how much exactly) due to the max memory in it- so for drum and bass it is perfect.
Plenty of other effects on it will work well with that style too- particuarly ring mod, which has always worked well on breaks.
When all is said and done- anything you do above and beyond just using two turntables will add something to your sets. Give it a try and see!!
the only thing a CDJ1000mk2 has over a turntable in this respect is the +/-100% pitch, reverse function (although some decks have this) and that yu can create your own loops and then do shit to that with the EFX. in reality, its only like a 5% difference, which most of can be worked around of.
