Based on my experiences this year:

1. Richie Hawtin - his set at DEMF and at afters proved to me why this guy is considered to be on a level all his own, even by fellow techno dj's

2. Leeeeeeeee - set at vision was ok, but afterwards and he's one of the few dj's that i've met that "gets it"

3. Sander - Crobar, Space

4. Lawler - hate to say this, but i wish he would go back to more of his tribal beats than his electro stuff lately, but still very solid performances this past year in chicago, miami and nyc

5. Mazi - consistently good telectro times with him!

My top 5:

1. Armin van Buuren
2. Above & Beyond
3. Markus Schulz
4. Gabriel & Dresden
5. Andy Moor

Make sure you vote too, but NO Tiesto nor Oakenfold!!!!!!

Yep, people seem to misconstrue the "DJ Mag" poll as a poll for their favorite producers.

Wow, I didn't realize this. So, I have heard a few live Leama & Moor sets. How does this work, UWM?

Well I guess I'm wrong. I guess I just use different criteria when I'm voting for the "world's best DJ"

Posted by neile on Aug-23-2005 18:05:

1. Sasha
2. Ferry
3. Sander
4. G&D

No, you just don't really like Andy Moor's style is all. I guess different strokes for different folks. I totally dig DJs along a variety of genres (from Sander to James Holden to AvB to the Audiotherapy Greek gods), so it is so hard to limit fav DJs to just 5. I based my choices on DJs that spin what I like, but also those who I think deserve it. AvB's ASOT and Above & Beyond's TATW webcasts are awesome and introduce thousands to new trance/progressive material on a weekly basis and they are the force behind labels/DJs like Armada and Anjuna Beats, G&D/Markus Schulz/Andy Moor may be the best producers in the biz (and yes, exceptional DJs too--just listened to Leama & Moor's Proton Radio set from last year). I could have just as easily voted for Sander K, Sasha, Perry O'Neil, Matthew Dekay, Andrew K and a variety of others for the amazing work they do. Here's to great music.
