Offical Tiesto In Concert Review

Well didnt really wanna go but my buddy had an extra ticket. Met Electrophile and few others there. It all started when he Played Whiteroom - someday. The whole setup IMO was a little too much. All those screens and flashing lights and people coming down and doing fancy moves. I woulda gone to a circus if i wanted to c that. All in all Tiesto has changed in terms of his style a whole lot. He plays more commercial tech trance. AND WHAT THE FUK WAS UP WITH THAT DRUM SOLO SHIT listing to that for 3 mins and still goin on gave a major migrane. Then he came back with Marcel Woods - Advanced. Wtf was up the Blade Theme. It was a good nite to hang out with friends but i would have loved to go to Tiesto in Concert II. Hes Most Def dropped From Number 1 in my book. I heard plenty of bad transfers and railings.

word on second sun?
what was their "secret weapon"?

Posted by henryv on Aug-21-2005 10:28:

I GUESS ALL THE TIESTO HATERS ARE TALKING HERE ...but the show was awsome to be honest.

Posted by Jensaarai on Aug-21-2005 11:08:

I thought it was great. That drum solo was one of the highlights of the night for me. I love cadences, it was amazing. One of my favorite parts was definitely Netherworld 2005 (Oliver Prime Remix), omg I love that tune. Great show...

I'm not the biggest Tiesto fan, but damn, i thought it was a sweet night! Sure his mixing wasn't the best, but the music was badass for the most part! I was entertained, and so were my friends, and that's all that mattered!

Posted by stefanoc on Aug-21-2005 12:56:

yea maybe the drums went alittle longer than they shouldve been, but it was kinda original. plus its a damn concert, not a show. its suppose to have extravagent stuff like that.
and about the blade track, it was awesome. does it really bother u much to hear oldies track? it drove ppl nuts and thats the purpose of a dj.

Posted by Kfrogger on Aug-21-2005 13:51:

tonights concert reminds me of club privilege in ibiza especially manumission mondays. lots of acrobatics and lights. start getting used to it.

i dont know i would like tol, but i didnt get in to the show even though i had a ticket. gyp. i wonder what it was. i heard it was a new collab.
my review on tiesto will be later, maybe, if i even decide i care. it was pretty good, but tbh i was expecting alot more after the way they promoted it...

Posted by MichaelBoogerd! on Aug-21-2005 15:33:

I'll be a tool and say...

Thats not an old track. Just a new one sampling New Order.

Randy Katana - Play It Loud

and L.S.G. - looking at the playlist... it would've been my only highlight from this show had i attended.

There is practically 'nothing' special of note from the rest. His own productions, a few singers... seems like a lot more attention (just like the mistake in the Dutch versions) is on the visual attractions happening AROUND the DJ.

Dammit.

Just call it a fucking SOLO and spin some tunes without any intervals.

shouldn't that be a huge turnoff then?

i think it was a great production, and the body contortionist was cool and wierd at the same time. The Japanese drummers were cool, Jes singing "As the rush comes" was a great hightlight.

Posted by in2muzikk on Aug-21-2005 17:38:

This was such an amazing night! It was easy to see that Tiesto was really, really happy to be delivering his first "Tiesto in Concert" in Los Angeles! The floor was completely packed halfway into the night and the visuals were stunning. I loved every bit of it, my only regret being that it was too short!

"Embrace me .. surround me as the rush comes!"

Im surprised looking from the tracklist that you are gonna continue to blaze on the guys mixing.

Seems like there was a break in the music for a performing artist at least every half hour into the show.

So how can you judge his flow or mixing style when he is restricted in this rather unique manner?

Just thought i'd point that out. Even at the dutch TICs his mixing sucked ass. The DVD doesnt quite show that. I think people going in expecting some seamless mixes are pretty silly. Its a TIC after all. Your gonna get breaks and stoppages in the flow frequently.

The sound system was one of the best especially for a huge place like the sports arena. I went to many events there and this sounded like at a club. The production, lighting, video, fire, performer, the confetti’s... were top notch.
The crowd was so ON it was amazing to see that sea of people bouncing. Everyone look happy and seems to have a great time.
The sports arena staff was very well organized and the drinks were priced reasonably.
One of the best concert I ever went to.
I had a fantastic time! This was a great show

I personally loved the production and knowing the hardwork they put in .. I had an amazing time! One of the best in my book ..

Pictures anyone???!!! I wanna see pictures TIESTO is a GOD!

But I do nothink that someone else will get the #1 spot this Year... and The winner is ....... ARMIN Van Buuren!!!!

WOW, out of everyone's response so far, no one sounds like they were blown away or anything (SCG doesn't count....groupie... :-p). Feel safe to think I will never regret going.

A break every 30 minutes? What happened to the promise of an uninterupted set.

hahaha good point davet!!

we asked the same question ourself... dont really get what was UNINTERRUPTED at all...
the guy would throw down like 3 hard ass tracks and then all of a sudden shut it off and go to these random hanging dancers and stop the whole set
um if i wanted to see hanging dancers, i would go to cirque du soleil
i went to see TIESTO in CONCERT, and saw tiesto on and off with a buhnch of other random interruptions.

the one thing i will say is that the sound was pretty fucking amazing.
big props to them on that.

but yeah, the only awesome part was the sound, the cheap drinks and...
well thats it

the production that they bragged so much about was WEEEEEEEAAAAAKKKK

just green lasers?@?@?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! are you fucking kidding me?!?!? Tiesto in Concert and they couldnt afford to hook up some color lasers and actually give people some REAL visuals instead of a STANDARD plain neon green laser that you can find in any typical nightlcub like avalon ( and actually avalons are even better) doing a fan the whole night?!?!??!?!!? woooooppppeeeddooooo
the lighting also SUCKED. i mean there was a shit load of new lights dont get me wrong, but they were totallly out of synch with tiesto, but maybe they just couldnt keep up with his trainwrecks hahahahahahahah
and there was only 1 video screebn???? what!?!?!?!?!?!?
if you go to a REAL concert, you actually get 2-5 screens usually. so that was totally stupid and cheapooooo of them

the dj booth SUCKED ASSS. im sorry, but the ones from the TIC and TIC2 were wayyyyyyyy better then this ghetto bow.
they triue to put all these screens around him, but the screens were facing almost the cieling so no one on the floor could get any use out of it anyway, stuppppppid...

then they have this other stuuuupid mesh sheet hanging in front of the ONLY p;rojection screen which was behind tiestos booth and so you could BARELY see what was on the screen clearly.. kinda defeats the purpose of a screen.

the breaks were just way too much. how the hell are you gonna stop a flow of a dj? how stupid.

and i dont wanjna hear anyone say , "OH, you should cut him some slack, because there were breaks in the set and so it messed up his flow" because um heloooooooooooooo!!!!!
IT WAS TIESTOS OWN CONCERT!!!!!!

he could do ANYTHING he wanted.

he obviously APPROVED these dancers, these acts, these annooying ass interuptions, etc
and you know what??/ I bet he approved that stuff just so that he could get breaks from TRAINWRECKING and thinking maybe he could distract the crowd every little bit and do some other act to take away the attention off of his terrible mixing.

yes his track selection was pretty decent, but even with that, it was hard to enjoy since the "flow" kept stopping, not to mention when im goign to see the "#1 DJ in the world for 3 years in a row", i expecdt to see and hear better mixing than the average LOCAL dj.

maybe since he was going to make a killing off of all of us, he could have taken a day or two to .... practice????

that is exactly what my husband said!!

All in all, a very good fucking night!! All the people bouncing, smiles all around and people dancing like mad...how could one not enjoy that? Why do you have to over analyze and just accept it for what is was...a concert. 10,000 plus people all there to listen to 1 guy. the 1 guy you have in common with all those people. THATS PRETTY DAMN AMAZING!

Last night was definitely a top event in eyes. It surpassed our nights in Ibiza and last year seeing Tiesto at Space for WMC. To see Tiesto in a club is not an option anymore because its total chaos inside. This night will be hard to top in my mind.

Posted by UWM on Aug-21-2005 22:05:

Tiesto still plays As The Rush Comes?

That's pathetic.

pictures! (clicky)

Some are blurry, but some are quite nice (they haven't been sorted or editted yet - just a camera dump). My friend was playing with the camera settings a lot it seems - the first bunch of pictures are enormous, sorry about that.

Also sorry about the directory listing format. He hasn't gotten a thumbnail system down yet.

I like this one a lot.
