Something is wrong with me...

1. I missed Tiesto last night, and I don't really care.
2. Epic trance now bores me.
3. I am listening to Sasha's Involver, after having owned it since it came out and never liking it, and loving it.
4. ???
5. Profit

I am scared...

you get the Digweed Essential mix from this year, or some of the cool Gloabl Undergrounds that came out this year too.

Go here and dl Desyn (2004-07-01 - Desyn Masiello - Live At Pacha Ibiza) and 2005-04-09 - Hernan Cattaneo - Live At Southfest Buenos Aires and that James Lavelle and Darren Emerson set maybe.

Ummm hybridized.org (link on the previous website at the top).

Im sure there are tons of others, but that should work for now.

PS: Your turning into a Prog/house head instead of uplifitin trance.

Prog Head! Welcome .. I love Sasha's Involver! Many say Sasha puts them to sleep .. I think that it takes a good Dj to put someone to sleep! If they are bad, you would get a headache instead

There's nothing wrong with you. You're just one of many who is increasingly bored with Trance. I haven't listened to much trance over the past month or so, mainly because most of it is absolute rubbish and to make things worse - Trance DJs seem to be recycling the same garden variety top 40 trance tracks in their sets. The same thing happened 5 years ago when Trance got extremely cheesy and predictable - and other genres came in and filled the void.

For my money, the 'Trance' DJs who are bringing it at the moment are John Fleming, Chris Lawrence, Eddie Haliwell, DJ Spoke, and on the production front Sam Sharp is easily the best in the business. Other than that - the true innovation in electronic music is happening on the progressive front by the likes of Sasha, Zabiela, Phil K, Digweed, and that lot, and on the Trance front there is a brave new world of Psy Trance that is innovating production forward. Unfortunately, "regular" or "Epic" Trance is quickly sinking into commercialism and it will be replaced by something else in the near future if it fails to evolve.

Hey hey there's nothing wrong with Sasha's Involver ... some good songs are the one with the steel guitars and the one right after it, "Petter - These Days"

Posted by Hypersky on Aug-22-2005 16:45:

Dragon you should look into Prog-Psy - especially if you think Trance is getting stale, Prog is cool but sometimes lacks energy, and you think certain elements of Psy Trance & Techno are interesting.

Iboga Records out of Denmark are putting out some quality stuff via artists like FREq, Antix, Son Kite, Frogacult etc. Look them up on Beatport...

Posted by tjpatel on Aug-22-2005 16:48:

i have that Son Kite ep somewhere

Eddie rules! Definitely a down to earth dude too

Music is constantly evolving, constantly going through cycles. (innovate, replicate, saturate). Trance is definitely evolving. On one front, many djs as well as the labels are becoming more progressive in nature. For example, Armada is pumping out Electronic Elements (Coldhardbour sessions), and Club Elite label, which are both geared toward the progressive end of trance. Even Anjuna and Captivating sounds are putting out more progressive sounding trance (bsides anyone?) So if you like that, thats certainly there...

As for all other fronts, music itself is constantly evolving, thus what people label them is also evolving and sometimes easily misunderstood. Its also subjective. What one person considers trance may not necessarily be same for someone else. Time may play a role as well. What we consider trance today might not be the same 3 years ago.

There's still some good stuff out there There are many good labels and producers out there making good solid music. You might just have to look a little harder, depending on your taste...
