Anyone else have Prognathism?

EDIT: Pictures of me.

I don't but, I catch myself jutting my lower jaw forward when playing video games or mixing. I don't realize I'm doing it until I take a break or stop altogether, and then I notice my jaw hurts like mad.

That sounds pretty bad, actually.

I went in to an orthodontist's office today, hoping to get Invisalign to fix my underbite... and she dropped that bomb on me. Now I'll be needing orthognathic surgery.

I do this fucking stupid "dodge" thing when I play video games. Like... in a shooter, if a rocket comes flying past me, I dodge my head as if it's actually coming at me. I can't seem to control it. Pisses me off.

A significant amount of people do this, actually. Hahaha... It's just called "getting TOO into the game". It's a great feeling, though. It's like you're always on the edge of your seat.

That reminds me of watching adults play Nintendo when they'd move the controller in the direction they want the on screen character to move.

I used to do that when I was a kid...now the only time I move the controller is when I'm firing it against the wall.

Back when I used to play video games I had a horrrible temper, especially in the dorms when we had head-to-head NCAA football matchups. I managed to knock 3 PS controllers out of commission due to giving them a toss around the room

I have the opposite. My bottom jaw is smaller than it is supposed to be.

Evil1

Are you sure your jaw's not normal size and your head is bigger than it's supposed to be???

I have the same bite as this. My lower jaw is back a bit; Like a miss bite. My jaw is pretty flexible though, & usually sits forward with the top incisor teeth. Sometimes I get lazy & it slips back & flush up against the top molars.

We took Super Smash Brothers on N64 to an extreme when I lived in the dorms at WWU. I can remember a few instances in which it turned outright violent. One of my friends actually pistol-whipped his roommate with a controller and it left marks on his face for the next day or so. We still crack jokes about it to this day.

HAHAHA yea I do that too, then I usually look around to see if anyone is watching me

Oh and to Yan....no I have an overbite. If I even try to place my jaw in that position as pictured on the website its very uncomfortable. Cant you just get braces or something to fix it?

my bottom teeth naturally sit behind my front ones. I'm awaiting corrective surgery involving titanium plates in my jaw and my bottom jaw will come out a little bit and my top one pushed in. It won't be perfect but right now i feel so stupid when i try to smile, that i just don't

Only corrective surgery where they push the jaw back is open to fix my situation.

Damn man. So you basically know what I'm going through. I don't smile either because I feel stupid.

having your lower jaw behind your top isn't normal?

That's perfectly normal. Unless the gap is huge.

Posted by Sunsnail on Aug-26-2005 23:36:

How big is huge?? My front two bottom teeth are at the teeth right behind the two front top ones

Posted by lacksesepsotygh on Aug-27-2005 00:45:

i used to have overbite.. the gap was about one centimeter. but it got fixed by bracers... and some nasty piece of plastic stuck in the roof of the mouth.. like two centimeters thick, attached to the back teeth with some metal bars.. god that felt horrible. and i had hooks and chains "lifting" up some tooth that grew wrong.. and stitches..

never had any holes or anything though

Wouldn't that mean you don't have a gap?
