Loading Virus Banks?
How do you guys load banks onto your virus?
My friend installed my virus today, and was told to import the midi of the 'bank' and use it as a normal virus midi track.. but it doesnt seem to load the new sounds..
My 'memory protect' is off and in 'MIDI DUMP TX' I have chosen single bank B... and when I press store.. it says 'dumping' but nothing happens.....?
Weird, when I had my Virus, I just opened the MIDI file with Windows Media Player and it would start loading immediately.
Windows Media Player???
What does that have to do with anything?
go to the access-music site, there should be a special edition available of sounddiver, which lets you communicate with the virus and extensively edit the properties of your virus on the pc! A very nify program!
I ain't typing it all again.... read my posts in this thread:

Good luck, post back here if problems.
Hey rusty thanks for that..
Well I downloaded the sounddiver bundle with the link you provided... the only problem is that it doesnt detect a 'midi connection'... I can play the virus in sounddiver with my midi controller and I can hear the sound... but for some reason all my 'c,d,e,f,g,h' banks are 'dimmed out' and not accessible?
What could be the cause of this?.. my cable is going from sound card 'out' to virus 'in'.
thank you
sot
you mean dimmed out in sound diver? If so you have to highlight the banks and request them.
no in the 'singles' tab where all the banks are listed.. they are all dimmed out.
and requesting is the problem..... once I request it gives me the midi connection error...even thuogh my midi controller works in the program.

I only have '1' midi cable hooked up to my VIRUS B... its from the soundcard OUT to VIRUS IN.
My Virus B OS is 4.9
are these factors?

What you should need to do is import the midi file into Cubase (or your sequencer) and assign that channel to go to your "Soundcard Out Ch1"
Set the tempo to 60bpm, then you just need to hit play and sit back and let it do it's thing. The Virus should now say "Receiving Data" or something.
Just be patient and it will load in the new bank.
Gotcha, ill give this a go later on...
But one question, if I just want to dump new banks onto my virus all I need is 1 midi cable no?.. whats the point of having information from the virus sent to the computer?
