-- are there many female trance addicts???
are there many female trance addicts???
hi just curious about this as when you think about it bar one or 2 artist such as anne savage, dj astrid and lisa lashes there seems to be fuck all females in the scene. production wise there is no credible female trance producers so basically its like the trance scene is alot like football. a mans game where its all men who play it and mostly man who go along to the games.
the same is with the club nights i think men tend to out number the women 2 to 1. so why is it that not many women feel trance like us lads?? maybe its not sexy enough for them hehe.
i wonder is there even many female tranceaddicts on this board, i do be mostly on the amatuer production board and i dont think i've come across 1 female there yet. although sometimes you can never tell from the avatars people choose
because girls taste in music in general is shit.
me... and i like to think i have excellant taste in music
but u are right about few girls being in the scene

Actually, gals love the vocal stuff. And they looove it when Armin plays it. He's soo cute! *giggle*
Strangely, though, aside from hippie girls into psy trance, not many really follow the non-vocal stuff as much. You'd find more gals into jungle than traditional trance (classic/anthem/prog, depending on what you consider to be traditional trance).

the idea is that it's pushed so low from so high that it's hard to remove from those areas. Never guess that i failed biology eh
And more Females seem to be into house (or hard house as noted) or breaks, as more DJs who are females out there play house or breakbeat music, such as DJ Baby Anne, Anne Savage, Lottie, DJ Colette, Lisa Lashes, Lisa Pin-Up etc. The only female trance DJs I know of are Sandra Collins, DJ Astrid, Kristina Sky, and Sophie Sugar.

Jesselyn is female offcourse, and she's one of my fav producers atm. She looks quite good too
i also enjoy alot of Angy Dee's stuff (hardtrance / hard house)
Sausage party woot woot.
I dont think many females come to TA because we talk to each other like we are in a men's locker room together alot of the time.
But also:
Girls don't seem to be as fascinated by machines as guys. I go to an engineering school and there are barely any girls in my classes. In most of my computer classes there are zero girls, I have a couple electronics classes that have maybe 1 or 2 girls in them. I read a study on it one time where they surveyed a bunch of girls asking why they aren't into computers, electronics, physics, or engineering, the most common response seemed to be that they don't find it interesting, they just don't like the stuff and would rather do other things.
I am double majoring in computer engineering and the humanities. I am outnumbered by girls in my humanities classes. I think females prefer the more social disciplines and would rather not be alone with a bunch of machines all day. When I was younger I took orchestra classes and was almost the only male in the class(aside from the bass players).
Math, computers, electronics, technical things just don't seem to interest many girls for one reason or another, I think that hinders alot of them from enjoying trance music because being a member of the trance scene requires a small degree of technical saavy in order to be able to appreciate alot of it. House music doesnt seem to have as much of a machine fetish as trance does, you hear alot more ethnic sounds and flutes and stuff put in, which I think at least partially explains why there are more females following house.
I dont think the lack of females is trance specific, I think it has more to do with females and the appeal of technology in general. Most machines are made by men for men which sorta perpetuates the problem.
