Serenity is the movie about firefly and that crew. Joss Whedon is going to be the director and he is the one who made buffy and angel both really good TV shows. Anyways if you want to watch the trailor here

People don't miss out on this movie it is going to be like the next star wars.

I saw the trailer in the theater last weekend. This movie looks like the worst piece of shit ever made, and only nerds will see this movie. You know a movie is bad when you can tell the actors are completely wooden just by watching the trailer.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I couldn't find anything on Firefly or Serenity when I did a search and I didn't want to create a new thread.

Is anyone else a huge Firefly fan? I must admit I never watched the series when it was on television (Fridays at 8pm in college = me never in front of a TV). Like most people I saw the movie Serenity first and then I went back and watched the series on DVD. It blew my mind.

Firefly was far and away the most brilliant show and such a shame it was canceled. It was just way ahead of it's time.

I lurve me some Firefly.

i was disappointed by the film. i wouldnt call it "way ahead of its time" considering it was not particularly different to buffy (but thats not a bad thing!)

definitely a shame it only got one season.

Watch Firefly (in the correct order), then watch Serenity.

Such a great story, I'm so annoyed it got cancelled because tv networks are idiots!

So it was not, as I said in 2005, "the worst piece of shit ever made"?

Firefly is by far my favourite sci fi tv show and Serenity is one of my favourite films. And the fact that it was cancled is not just sad, its criminal!

I loved the series - not so much the movie. I was very dissapointed that it didn't have the same western charm as the show did. Too many hovercrafts and spaceships and sci fi gizmo. There was this awesome moment early in the series when they land the ship, open the cargo doors and run out on horseback - that's the kind of inventive setting that made the series so entertaining.

That line should be reserved for Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip

In my opinion, no. But I really think the best way to enjoy the film is to see the series first. The movie just accentuates what was already going on in the show.

Yeah, there was the whole aspect of trying to keep fans of the show happy, but at the same time you have to realize that the film is reaching a much broader audience...an audience that didn't watch Firefly.

Therefore a lot of backstory and "catching-up" had to be done in the first part of the movie. You have to make sure everyone knows whats going on.
