Pioneer EFX-500 v. EFX-1000
Hey all,
To all the people out there more knowledgeable than me, I was wondering would I be better off spending the extra cash on an EFX-1000 unit or does the EFX-500 do a good enough job? Money is not the biggest issue, but if its not that much of a difference, I'd like to save the money. I don't DJ professionally but am looking to push the boundaries with my mixing as I am a bit tired of my current set up of mixer n tables. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Peace
Id def go for the efx 1000...ive got 2 efx 500s and id hapily trade the two of em for the 1000. I think ill buy one myself actually. Theres ALOT more on the 1000 so is money isnt the big issue ......def that one
Are there more midi configurations on the 1000?
the 500 only outputs midi time code so you can sync stuff to it.
Pretty sure the 1000 does just the same.
On the surface of it, the 1000 doesnt offer much more- but when you look at the specs and the 'hidden' features, then its loads more advanced. Just a shame its so damn expensive
Thanks a lot, its value v. money, and as much as I want to save money, I think the efx-1000 is looking better and better haha. If I do ever get one, I'll try and remember to post if it was definitely worth the money.
The EFX-1000 is fully MIDI-controllable. If you have a Xone:92 or a Nuo4, you can control the effects from the mixer. That is a HUGE step-up from the 500. That, and the sound quality make it worth the extra cost, which is around $300. I think a lot of people were scared off by the initial MSRP. Now, you can get a 1000 for less than $700.
I have a NUO 4. How exactly does the nuo 4 send the midi signal? In ableton/tractor with the NUO4 you have to go into the program and assign different things to different knobs, switches, eqs. How would you go about configuring the efx1000? Does it come with software?
I dunno. I'm actually kinda assuming that it works with the Nuo4, since it has incredible MIDI capabilities. Someone who has both should jump in, cuz I really don't know. I do know that it works with the Xone:92, though.

, but still wondering if its fully compadible with the efx as failsafe stated.
I am going for an efx-1000 myself... i got the coin sitting there in a big pile just waiting for the bad boys to hit aussie shores
pio aus has quite a few of these units in stock, and has for a while now.
Dont suppose you know how i can get one... there not on the pioneer website and most dj equipment stores around melbourne town have either not heard of them or have no idea for there arrival...
Maybe I should start a new thread but my topic is semi-related. Got the EFX-1000 in last night. Wow....wow..... its awesome. I still have no clue how to properly operate it but I was messin around w/ humanizer and phaser on Moby - Dream About Me (Ingrosso mix), ah that was too much fun. Song is hard n chunky and using the efx, whether it be space sounds, bells, or warped sounds, it was, in the words of the Family Guy's Peter Griffin, "Friggin' Sweet".
I got it running through the return/send ports on my DJM-500. The thing I'm really excited bout figuring out is echoing an 8 beat pattern and makin a song out of nothing. I think there is definitly the possibility for layering basslines over each other, incorporating accapellas and what not. I'm excited, wondering if anyone else here has gotten to one or been able to try one out. Highly reccomended if you got the dough lying around. With lotsa practice it is sure to add a lotta character to my sets. Some really unique sounds and possibilities are possible with this thing. Warning, its pretty big haha, but only 5lbs, or 2.3 or something kg.
Yeah... I managed to track down a store in my area that stocks them and had a play on one for a good few hours
I watched the zabiela feedback looping videos before I left so I had a general idea on how to do it... just remember to turn your depth all the way around.
Nice job on getting one by the way. I wont have mine till november (birthday present) gonna be a long wait
