My last BOA experience...

Hey TA's,

So how was your last Boa experience? Let me tell you about mine. :-(
I really wanted to be there last night to support the club, Rony, and especially my dear friend Sean Miller. After 2 years of hard work and dedication to the club I found out about an hour ago that my presence was not welcome.

Either way, I truly wish Rony and the rest of the Boa staff the best in their future endeavors. My thoughts and wishes for good times to be had by all are with you this morning!

Not to worry big things are in the making and I will certainly see you all on the dance floor very soon. :-)

XOXO

CB

Not welcome? O_o That doesn't sound very TA-like.

No worries if your not welcome im sure there are many good things to come!

Not too worry Carey. You're always welcome with the TA crew. Looking forward to even bigger things from you man....respect

Edit: actually, thats really fucked up on their part, you for one should not be trated that way

Ditto. From what I've seen...shizat...

.

From what I haven't seen I cannot comment on so I won't. All the best to all parties involved however...

you might want to elaborate Carey.

like they didn't let you in or something?

Posted by DigiNut on Aug-28-2005 15:54:

That's a shame Carey. I hope it was just club politics and not anything personal, because you guys made a kick-ass team.

Posted by dance2dabeat on Aug-28-2005 23:32:

that is retared!!!

Posted by Rhue on Aug-29-2005 00:53:

Well if you guys knew exactly why they are being shutdown, i wouldn't be surprised at the paranoia...

All in all what a wayyy to end one of the best venues for house music with a great vibe and good crowd! Man i still can't believe that Boa is no more (atleast for the time being)

They are planning on relocating, so best of luck to them, you will be missed!

Re: My last BOA experience...

the words "childish" and "unprofessional" come to mind... unfortunately politics and business usually coincide quite nicely together...

a what? hahahahahahaha

but i am sorry to hear that carey. its a shame the boa crew was that harsh. i wonder what the reasoning behind it was?

Posted by crazedcanuck on Aug-29-2005 09:42:

As sorry as I am to hear it Carey, I don't think the rest of you really have a right to comment.

We're not privy to what has gone on with Rony et al and Carey, and it's none of our business quite frankly. No-one on this board really has the right to judge since they have zero info, myself included

Does it suck? Ya

Is it outrageous that a former employer doesn't wish for an employee that left not return? Not really.

Is posting about it online appropriate? I'll leave that to each of you.

I too missed out on the final night, as I have moved away and didn't know until the last minute, so I can feel your pain Carey. Too many good times had with you and the crew there... damn I'm gonna miss it.

Rob

Huh?

Why wouldn't we have to right to comment and say what we think about it. I am assuming that's why Carey made a thread, to see what people think about that sort of treatment. Of course there is politics behind it.

Posted by crazedcanuck on Aug-29-2005 14:01:

Sorry Margs, I should have been more clear.

Of course everyone can express their feelings, but in terms of right or wrong, no-one of us know.

You people make it seam like Rony is the victim here, can you figure out why he was kicked out by the landlord , well in wasn't for being an ideal Tenant.. ever wonder whay the A/C was always not working, did you ever wonder why the sound system was repossed.Come on people you all know what the answer is $ or should i say the fact that he doesn,t pay.
And that includes DJ'S , investors , staff etc. He is not the victim here, he is the cause , every wonder why Carey was not welcome , when he left he was nothing but a gentleman and never bad mouthed the club in anyway. He put the club on the map bring DJ,s to a club they had never heard of and made it work.
Rony is not victim he had a perfect situation and he s%#&^@& it up.
Boa was the best club in TO dispite Rony efforts , he has screwed everyone he has worked with and will do the same at the new club.

I don't see what is so wrong in thanking the guy who invested his $$ in a club/event, nor do I see a problem thanking the man that took that investment and developed a signature sound and vibrant place to indulge in house music.

Carey & Rony will both be permanent fixtures in many of my happiest moments of my clubbing odyssey.

Posted by Sly_Guy on Aug-29-2005 21:20:

My opinion:

Carey worked there:
I was happy with the club.

Carey wasn't working there:
I was happy with the club.

Carey's weDance launch with Chus and Ceballos:
I was happy with the event.

Common theme, I'm happy with both Carey's and Rony's ability to throw a party.

Without knowing or caring about all or any of the facts re: the whole Roney situation..

you can still thank the man for what he's provided us with over the past 2 years AND be in disagreement with his business practices themselves.

The way he operated and acted as a businessman is separate from our appreciation for whut he did for us -- that being, creating Boa, giving us an after-hours club that had the BEST sound system in TO that also consistently brought in sick insane house talent to Toronto on a weekly basis.

I can see your point at being angry at Roney if the facts you said are true (I have no idea and don't care if to know), but that doesn't stop us from still appreciating him for what he did for us as party-goers!
