M.I.K.E Review

Firstly, a message from M.I.K.E -

I would like to thank all of the TAs who came out to support me at Spundae tonight. It was a fantastic atmosphere, and I think that in my opinion, that this was my best set I have played so far this year. I would like to get a residency at Spundae, and so far it is looking good.

My Review:

As expected, MIKE tore the roof off the place. Fei-Fei and Kristina did an awesome job of filling the room and setting things up. Mike came on at 1 and played three solid hours of just about everything under the sun. The first hour was 'trippy' according to him, the 2nd 'trance' and the 3rd was tekky and experimental. The highlight of the evening was when he busted out his new private version of Strange World which saw the place erupt when the drums kicked in. He finished things off with yet another personal mix, this time of Universal Nation. There were loads of tracks that were hard to ID because they are either brand new or out of the way. The place was packed and the atmosphere was fantastic. Had a great time seing the usual TA suspects there, as well as some new faces. This was definitely a night to remember, and by the sounds of the residency talk from MIKE himself, it looks like this will be a regular occurance.

Special Thanks to Postive Logic, KittyKrush, Technofriik, Bob, Gypsygirl, Freshcoast, Kristina Sky, Electrophile, Aaron, DJ Fei-Fei, SVGMethod, HotDogWater, Sandy, & kdgirl. Refuge01 - You have to be the biggest MIKE fan in the world. It was great to see you chatting with him 'afterhours'

Good to hear MIKE had an awesome night, wish I could have been there :\ He had the entire club moving last time he was in SF

Review & Tracklist

Thanks to any TAs that went to M.I.K.E. @ Spundae to see our show.

I will have to say the TA attendance was very low, but not to say it wasn't an amazing night, just strange without the usual TAs

BUT, I was TOTALLY feelin the crowd that was at Spundae last night.

The place was absolutley packed, and actually I hear we had more people than Markus did in San Diego!!!

The crowd was really receptive and I had so much fun warming up the crowd for M.I.K.E. (One of the most talented people in the business)

For the most part it seemed to be a TON of new people and it was a very different crowd than I had played to the night before with Blank & Jones @ Avalon.

I don't think many reviews of this night will be going up, considering the majority of poeple there last night, arent on TA

But just in case........

I was @ Avalon at the begining of the night to see David open for Bad Boy Bill. His set rocked, BBB was awesome too. I was dancing all night!! Nice, funky, banging house. I was looking so forward to seeing meat katie, but my friends wanted to leave! Oh well, I can see him @ MNS, if I'm not too exhausted.

So I got home, and decided I wasn't ready to go to bed, and walked over to Spundae. I got in and it was a little too trancey for my taste (sorry to all MIKE fans). But, I was so drunk, I didn't care. I was dancing all night lol. He played a couple cool songs, like this song by Renato Cohen. Reminded me of old skool Picotto. My back is killing me today! Nice seeing everyone out!

damn.. cheesy trance ??

if M.I.K.E. was playing cheesy trance, then I don't even know what you would call my style, hahaha

I would have to say that IMO, MIKE plays the least "cheesy" out of any "trance" DJ I know.

But everyone has a diff idea of cheese so...

sorry girly.... i'm just not into trance that much. but i still appreciate the music.

actually, you'll never believe it, but i had not one, but TWO red bull/vodka's. i NEVER drink that much. alcohol is gross, but anna kept buying me drinks. i was so wasted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Imogen Heap remix is genius, considering how amazing the original is... very tough to beat out or even try to interpret, and I think Enmass did a BEAUTIFUL job.

Right now there are only 3 people in the world that have that remix:

Armin (which btw, just played it on ASOT this past week)

Gabriel & Dresden (Who also played it recently and said they loved it)

and little Kristina Sky


I did something I rarely do, which was used this track to close out both my sets this weekend, but the track is just so summery and feelgood, I couldnt pass up the opportunity to share the song with 2 different crowds in one weekend.

Randy of Enmass spent over 18 hours on that accapella, just so he could get it prepared to remix.

Their hard work will not go unnoticed...

Anyone who is gonna want to bite off their idea, and try to remix this tune themselves, is gonna have quite a mission ahead of them...

very great night, kristina always makes me know how to dance, wish she could have spun more than an hour though, but that's okay, seeing her twice in one weekend made up for that! thank you! M.I.K.E. was fantastic, a little different than what i have seen before but great!!! if my feet didn't hurt so bad from killer high heels from friday i would have danced a hell of a lot more but was able to enjoy from the side of the dj booth. i would be very happy if he got a residency at spundae! great night and great seeing the ta's that were there. hey hotdogwater, that's my trip man! good times, hypersky, what happened to you?

Wow!! What a fun night!

First time seeing him and I really enjoyed him. I will admit I wasnt digging him at first but I stepped outside for a bit, came back in and I was his. I was dancing like mad I tell ya. I am a fan now!

Oh and the openers, great job. Y'all got the crowd pumped and ready.

Buck Fush - Kristina for president!

Her opening track, Delirium - Silence (Filterheadz Remix) really rocked the house! Loved it on Friday and Saturday, best remix of Silence ever!

M.I.K.E. was all over the place with Trance, Prog & a lot of new remixes that I'd never heard before. Preferred Trance over the harder stuff, but some of that was good too...a few pics here

i had a great night. i think i fell in love with reid speed. lol. she was cute. but then i fell in love with dj inanna too. hahaha. it was cool meeting fei-fei. m.i.k.e. tore it up. awww man i need some sleep.

Yeah! Fun night for sure. It was good meeting some of ya....Curly! I do remember how old I am...wait--was that you asking me? I got so faded so quickly after my set. Maybe it wasn't u...
