Love is in the air Markus Schulz review!!!

This had to be the longest weeks in History. It has been 2 months I have seen Markus and the day has fianlly come to get my fix.

I was lucky and got off work 2 hours early!! Whooo Hoooo. Purfect for driving down to SD and not having to worry about rushing. Knowing my luck before I reached oceanside there was Traffic. I wasn't going more then 30 mph for what seemed like forever. Then it would clear for a few quick seonds before turing into Traffic again There was not even an accident in site! My 2 hour trip became over 3!!!

Once I got into SD it was time to get ready, nap and go to the TA meet-up at Rock Bottom. This meet-up was pretty small compared to the others. But it gave me a chance to meet Austin Scott and his friends. All really cool people!! With time to chat over yummy dinner and beer the meet-up was a lot of fun. A big thank you goes out to everyone that came!!

After the meet-up we headed down to 4th and B. The doors where not open yet and the wanttickets list was not there. After 10 minutes or so they started leting people in. Once I got to the Box office they could not find my name on the list!!! Since I did not have a print out I was S.O.L. What a total buzz kill!!!! Thank goodness I won one of those Free tickets! That saved my night.

Once inside Austin Scott was on the decks throwing down an awesome set. He had a hard task to do since Boris plays all most the same style as Markus. But he did his job and did it well. The dance floor got packed and people where dancing.
After his set people asked for his autograph and one girl wanted her tit signed!

After Austin, Boris came on. imo the enegry level kinda died. He played a few great tracks. A remix of "Air for Life" was one of them as well as WOW "Mind Circus" But other then that his set was kinda blah.

During his set Kris and I walked around to cool off and ran into Paul and we got to go say Hi to Markus!! WHOOO HOOOO!!! After a quick chat and some pictures it was time to Catch Departure live! They sang "with out you near", "she turns" and one track the was new (I think)

Finally!!! Markus was on the decks. Markus picked up the energy right away. Kris and I where back stage for the first track but we had to run back down to the front to dance and show our *hearts* Markus seemed to like our energy.

Markus threw down yet another amazing set! He played a lot harder this time around and everyone love it.I think there is no roof on 4th and B left!!! I totaly went nuts when he droped Air for life (org mix), No one on earth, and Nalin and Kane- Open your Eyes (Markus schulz and Elevation Remix) Markus seemed to be having a great time up there as well danceing with us and singing along. So much FUN!!! After Markus was finished he signed posters and talked to fans encluding Kris, Mike and I.

I had such a great time this weekend! It was nice to get out of l.a to see one of the greatest dj's in the world (imo) I can not wait untill next week!!

I will post my pictures when I get home

Wow! sounds like an awesome time! But your name wasn't on the wantticket list? That is LAME! Get your money back! It's been a while for me since i seen markus, hopefully he'll be at Monster Massive. Oh and you got off early for work? WOW!!!! that sounds like a miracle!

WOW what a night last night. I would be lying if i said that I wasn't half deaf today...good lord it was loud in there.

I gotta say that this night was simply awesome. The TA meetup was awesome and it was great to finally put some names with some faces. It definitely set the night off right for me. It isn't everyday that you get to spend a few hours with some great people that you have never met and you can all just seemlessly blend together like we did. You guys were awesome!

I gotta tell ya that last night was one of the more fun sets i've been able to play in a while. Sometimes its challenging when you are opening to really get some energy into the crowd but people really seemed to enjoy the set and that made me extremely happy. At one point I looked up at the crowd and I was impressed by how crowded it got by around 11 or so. I was having so much fun that the set literally flew by. I felt like I just got on stage and then I had to get off. The highlight of the set for me was being able to play my original track and watch the crowd actually get down and shake their ass to it. Good stuff!!!

Tracks I can remember:

Alex Stealthy- deploring
Chris cargo - cityscape (remix)
sonorus - protonic (leama and moore remix)
Gavyn Mitchell presents mnemonic (perry o'neil rmx)
Austin Scott vs. Gabrielle Lucosz - Distilled
yellow blackbird - superfly (andy moore remix)
Jon Dahlback - Prankster
Antix - hiding place

It was def a unique experience to sign autographs for the first time and the boob was hysterical.

Musically the rest of the night I thought was good. I really thought Markus tore it up at the club. I was very impressed with his tracks and he threw down a great combination of new stuff and his usual floor thumpers.

All in all the night for me was absolutely amazing. ALL my friends came out ot support and the new friends I met really supported me as well. The smile on my face behind the tables was pretty much permanently plastered from ear to ear the entire time on stage.

Love you guys!

Scott your opening set was phenomenal!! I didn't make it to the TA meetup to say hi but I was there cheering you on

Boris was okay, he played some decent tracks. Departure live was definitely an experience though. I loved She Turns and Without You Near

Markus blew me away, as always. I kinda feel like a broken record saying that every time I see him spin, but it's just how it is. Here are some of the tracks I remember from last night.

By the way.. TUNE OF THE FUCKING NIGHT:
Kuffdam & Plant - Summer Dream (Paul van Dyk Remix) !!!
It was the last song in his set before his encore.. I fell in love with this when PvD spun it in his Sensation White 2004 set, so it was amazing to finally hear it live!!

Above & Beyond vs Andy Moor - Air For Life (Original Mix)
James Holden - Nothing (93 Returning Mix)
Hammer & Bennett - Language (Santiago Nino Dub Tech Remix)
Kuffdam & Plant - Summer Dream (Paul van Dyk Remix)
Purple Haze - Adrenaline
Ozgur Can - Connected (Santiago Nino Dub Tech Mix)
Armin van Buuren - Shivers
Dogzilla - Without You
Nalin & Kane - Open Your Eyes (Markus Schulz and Elevation Remix) [thanks michelle/DA!]
Above & Beyond - No One On Earth (Gabriel & Dresden Remix)
Matthew Dekay vs. The Proluctors - The Deep Show
Eye Wall - Bad Deal

Someone played "Yilmaz Altanhan - Eighties (Original Mix)" and "Synergy - Hello Strings".. I think it was Boris. Great tracks too!

It was nice meeting Michelle again, and finally meeting neinerlove for real this time (although I realized later I didn't give my name, oops blame the alcohol). Can't wait for Ferry/Armin now

More than likely the Elevation and Markus Schulz remix. Edgar V dropped that at Space 2 weeks ago, monster tune!

The rest of that tracklist looks great!

I hope to have them up by tonight...
The lighting on on the stage made it hard to take good shots

Posted by xKaoSx on Aug-29-2005 02:59:

AS's set was amazing. I was in the mood to hear that kinda music right at that time and it was perfect. Sets like that will get you a lot more work my friend. We need to get you bump'n at On Broadway.

Posted by CND on Aug-29-2005 04:47:

Had a terrific time. Markus was on as usual and kept if flowing throughout. He was more animated than I have ever seen him and looked like he was really enjoying himself.

Sorry I missed your set Austin. It was my birthday the day before and had dinner at my house planned earlier. Got to the club around midnight.

Was it just me or did the sound quality improve dramatically at 4th & B? Especially towards the middle to back of the room the base was kicking me in the chest.

Posted by sheffy on Aug-29-2005 05:11:

Yeah, I was pretty impressed with the sound. The people I was with, who had been to 4th and B more than I have, said it had improved as well, although I don't know how long ago they were comparing it to.

Was it Boris who played that remix of The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony? That was cool too.

Also, I remembered Markus played "Matthew Dekay vs. The Proluctors - The Deep Show." He also played "Eye Wall - Bad Deal." I don't quite get why this song gets played so much.. I really don't like it.

Austin played a very good set! Good Meeting you! I wish he would have come on right b4 Markus. I wasn't feeling boris and I'm not sure if anyone else was either until the last part of his set.

Markus came on and did his thing! I am always amazed at his live performances. There is no doubt that he is one of my favorite DJ's to watch! Definately in my top 3 for sure.

Overall had a good weekend! Nocturnal here we come!

If anyone is interested i'll be playing on LRCN's 4X4 101 show this saturday from 1-3. Im sure he is gonna put up his own post but just a heads up!

i had a great time...

what i liked:

scott's set - wow, big basslines, chunky perc's. really had a good time listening to it.

boris - end of his set was good, he didnt' vibe off scott very well in the beginning. he turned it up right before depature came on and i saw the crowd moving for sure

Markus - played some cool tracks... def the fastest and hardest i've ever seen him play. he had about 3 SVD tracks played including Purple Haze - Adrenaline and A.K.A. . I liked markus when i saw him play at spundae L.A. and when he opened for Armin. maybe just because thats what i expected from him.

Highlight for me would have to be

David West feat. Andreas H - 'Larry Mountains 54'

VJ: Lance, thanks for clearing up the wrist band issue... the security was a real dick to me and it said a lot about you helping me out.

my constructive criticism:

ok, the stage. i don't fully understand the theme up there. Palm trees? I think i understand the logic because i was there on friday night for the 94.9 big sonic chill thing. Are the plants there to cover up the other band equipment?

The security - i always feel like people who have worked security at the same place for a number of years are just complete assholes. they are bitter about so much more than their job and it rubs off when i walk in that place. I mean how much better of a vibe would you have if the security was less like you are in a prison?

Hi All,

It is very nice that TA's have supported Polka Dot, Realivze, and Spundae as they continue to bring shows to San Diego. It is with your help that the guys are able to get bigger and better shows. So keep it coming.

Posted by Garrett S on Aug-29-2005 22:38:

Wish I could've been there but I was playing a desert party which was flawed by Hippe & Halo playing a boring 130bpm deep house set from 1-3:30 which cleared the floor until Dook and I kicked it back up and got trancey. I'll be there for the next show though with Sandra Collins and DJ Rap. Btw, Austin Scott is the shit, known that for quite some time now. Good to see others recognizing that.

Love is in the air Ta-da

Ta-Da: Here are the pictures.
Warning a lot of the shots are CRAP imo... the lighting and the fog on the stage made it hard to get good shots Markus Schulz @ 4th and B
