Hold 'em or fold 'em?
I played my first poker tournament today. there was about 60 people, 10 people per table, with a $30 buy-in. so i ask you...
you hold QhQd.
the flop is 469, all unsuited.
the person to your left goes all in. the person next to him calls. it's on you, and you're the short stack.
hold 'em, or fold 'em??
hold em
no guts no glory
I go all in. It pisses everyone off and I usually win
what were the playing styles of the raiser who went all in and the caller?

Other than understanding the other players playing styles. The best pair on the flop could be a 9. Someone could be holding a 6/4 hoping for a straight draw. My guess is someone is holding a straight draw... maybe a 10/8, maybe a 7/8...
Heres the situation...
a. They are bluffing.
b. They are on a draw.
c. They are playing to scare you and get you out.
I pick C. Id go all in.
Lets say both of them have a pair (using the flop) with a low card, that already slims down the chance of more low cards to fall. In the end, Id think someone is holding a 6/A, and Id pray that an Ace doesnt fall.

slightly aggressive and pretty tight, but that's how i played as well. you don't play many hands, but the ones you do you use to your fullest advantage.

Originally posted by Omega_Blue LOL you're damn close. oh yeah, i raised before the flop and both the guys called also. anyways i figured that with 469.. most likely one of them was going for a straight draw... and at best someone had low pocket pair and caught trips... or MAYBE caught two pair... but who the fuck would call with 69? or 49? so i call. it ends up, and this is probably gonna make you guys laugh first guy who goes all in- A7 offsuit. second guy who calls- K5 offsuit (why the fuck would he call??) me- QQ. turn- 6. i catch two pair. river-... ... ............ ...... ......... FUCKING ACE GODDAMMIT WHAT THE FUCK and there went my chipstack, and a shot at $1000. FUCK
you should've folded
Hehe, yea, its a rule of thumb in poker, ALWAYS PLAY THE ACE. Thats why I figured an A/6.

Originally posted by Omega_Blue i guess, but man, i hate top face cards with low-ass kickers. i usually fold those unless it's an ace. who goes all in hoping for an ace though seriously? the worst part about it was i pretty much had like a %90 chance of winning that hand when the turn didn't help them out.
