CARL COX
- www.carlcox.com
How do you measure a DJ's popularity? By club bookings, remix credits, solo releases, and mix CDs? By branding, sponsorship and endorsements? Through glamour quota and celebrity status? Or by radio, television and movie appearances?
By any of these criteria, Carl Cox could claim he's got the love. Ultimately, though, it's the paying public that makes or breaks - and more importantly, maintains - a DJ's popularity. And in that case Carl Cox absolutely has got the love. Time and again, when music magazines print their end of year polls, it's Carl Cox who tops them. Alongside accolades from NME, Dancestar and countless other organizations all over the world, Carl was also awarded the IDA 'DJ Of The Year' two years in a row, and in 2002 Muzik Magazine [RIP] named him Best British DJ
Even if I'm just playing records, I'm into the moment of playing and with that, if I'm dancing, and I'm enjoying this moment, then I'm sure you guys can too, without the record having to be the focal point of why we're here. That's why I find it a lot easier to push new music on people - because I believe in what I'm playing, full stop. And everyone can feel that, and go with it, and then they can walk away with the experience of Carl Cox."

I VERY much agree.
Just for everyone elses info, here was my specific announcement on Evil 9:
EVIL 9 WILL NO LONGER BE PLAYING AT THIS EVENT
Due to situations completely beyond our control, Evil 9's agency has had to cancel there attetndance on this tour date with Carl. They are just not able to fly here to Vancouver and back in enough time to make a very important gig on the Satudray in the UK. Our apologies for this, but clearly it was completely beyond on our control. -- It sucks too cause I really wanted to see these cats! Stay tuned for a potential re-scheduling of this booking.
Carl Cox is of course 100% confirmed coming and we will be putting extra sound, visuals and lighting into the show as a result. It's been ages since Carl has been back, and so we are trying to ensure the setup is perfect for when he is here!

Cheers.

did you say bargain? lol
dude, i'm seeing armin, markus schulz, blank and jones, andy c, john digweed, deep dish, high contrast, grayer and god knows how many other acts for $50
i'm sorry, but $40 is rather much. unfortunately, i think i will be paying that to see carl cox, only because he's an amazing performer. i understand there is much money involved in production of an event, but i've noticed prices to events have been going up substantially in the last year. while some events have kept their prices relatively low, others have been climbing

That's dope and is totally doable here in Vancouver............. IF we had a CLUB venue that holds 5000+ peeps.

MUAHAHA...
i bought a radiohead ticket for $35 - that's a band with 4 guys, all greater artists than coxy, who is strictly a dj. these dj fees are just rediculous nowadays...
fyi, cox is playing in SF for $25 us, so this $40 cdn isn't that much more than other cities for a weekend gig....
should be crazy...

Ok first the echange rate is 1.1761 right now:
$25 US * 1.1761 = $29.40 CAN. So they are still getting screwed. Also the calgary show is just 20.

This is going to be a great show if he plays anything like last time. My friend was there and he said the bass was insane so bring your earplugs and a helmet

money is nothing. its only what you do with it that counts. i spent $45 accouple of years ago to see him play in australia. worth every cent. 4 of the best hours ive heard a dj play. ive never seen a more tallented dj.
no regrets.
