Who and What artist first got you into EDM?
about '97 when my sister brought home the imported 'RISE' album from Chris Lawrence. probably best progressive trance cd of year in my very humble opinion.
used to listen to late night power tools years before that, but of course power tools and/or house music was kinda strange then.
I was 6 when I heard Kraftwerk's 'The Robots' - Never heard anything like it before. Never looked back since.

Well I'm here aren't i.
I remember back in 1997 A friend of mine gave me a case full of cds. At the time i mostly listened to alternative rock and r & b. Well the cds he gave me were all EDM. I was like wtf is this?? Then I gave them a listen and fell in love. Once you go EDM you never go back. lolol
Some of the cds included Frankie Bones, Moby, and the rest were mostly compulations Trance Fusion, Face of the Future, Mission to paradise, Dont Techno for an Answer, and LA Hard Core. I didnt get to attend my first event until 2000.
Paul Oakenfold, August 2001. I watched Swordfish, liked the soundtrack and stayed up al night researching Oakey, Ibiza and trance etc. That was such a long night haha.

Damn! This question has been asked so many times! hahaha
You know everyone at one point or another listened to HARDHOUSE!!! Lol... DJ Irene, Richad Humpty Vission, Bad Boy Bill!!! HA! I Aint gonna deny it!
Who can forget the infamous... FUNK PHENOMENA, CAFE CON LECHE, and HOCUS POCUS....
But even then, it wasn't hard house that got me into EDM... it was TECHNO!!!! 2 Bad Mice, LA Style, Prodigy, T99, Dyewitness and more....
my friend dragged me to ibiza last year not knowing it was EDM capital of the world. some guy named paul van dyk spun at amnesia. my first album i got after i came back was ATB - addicted to music.

god damn...thread #108934701-a2 on this topic lol
for me...t'was mars radio then groove radio (the original 103.1!) followed by 2 guys named sasha & digweed and a little thing called Northern Exposure.
get this...it was actually my friend's DAD that showed me that stuff. we were going on a shooting trip (they're white...i don't get it), and i was like "what are we listening to?" he says "northern exposure...by sasha & digweed" and i said "hmmm...kinda sounds like the stuff on groove radio" "it is...but better
"

some of it did sound bad! That was the HARD HOUSE... But the earlier stuff from 92-97 is not that bad! It's early Masters At Work, Judge Jules, and even TIESTO in their early forms! hehehe
Remember that one song that goes... ari ki ti ki (Magic Carpet Ride by Mighty Dub Kats?) well... That's Judge Jules! hahahaha
The Witch Doktor? & Funk Phenomena is Armand Van Helden
Deep Inside (Deep Deep Inside) is Masters At Work!
The Joker? is TIESTO!

Oh yeah.... How about ARMIN VAN BUUREN making HARD HOUSE!!!
OMG that was so fucken cheesy!!! THE WORSE!!!!
Go to Beatport.com and seach for HEads, Tits & Ass..
That's Armin! or for Chase!

I feel like such a NooB to you 96'-97 people!
A got a few CD's from Friends with Mixes and Tracks on it.. Man they where cheeeeeessssyyy ( Tunnle Trance Force:nervous
But at the time I did not know any better and thought the music was really good. So I got on the internet and started down loading Mixes from Tiesto, Ferry, Armin, Judge jules...
One of my goles before I finished Collage was to go to a Rave. So I went to Monster Massiv 2002 and had an awesome time. Then In Nov I walked into Spundae to see Tiesto
That night I feel in love with the music, clubing and Tiesto!
A few months later I saw BT live at the Place and that changed my life for ever!
