Whoever said it was easy to get a job in construction was lying
so yeah.
it's fucking really hard to get a decent job even if you have the proper training.
what gives?
i was under the impression if you were healthy, had the papers, and were ready to work, you would be hired immediately.
It most likely depends on the specific trade you are trying to practice.
I know lots of friends who have just picked up the equipment and went dry walling for a while to make some quick cash. Another one of my friends has been doing it since he was 17, with almost no paper work. He was only accepted into the union at the age of 21.
Maybe it helps to know people.
Are you trying to get into construction?

hey, union, can you help me find a job? sure, are you a member? well, i took the course you offer but not a member yet. sorry we can't help you, we only help members. oh, how do i become a member then? get a job with someone that hires with us.
fucking circular bullshit.

They probably looked at you and thought
" This chicks boyfriend is WAAY cooler than her, let's offer him the job"
Joking aside, be persistant and they'll realize you really want to work for them. Make some calls too.
