ok, this offended one of my friends, but i thought it was funny

my friends were all chilling, and smoking mairjuana one evening..and my friend said "man, the fucking racoons came and ripped open my garbage and started eating chicken bones and shit"

and then i said "fucking coons and their chicken!"

then my other friend was instanly pissed off and offended...but i think it was pretty damn funny, and thats why i chose to say it. So would anybody here be offended? i know racism is a touchy subject on the board so i'm curious if i have generally poor judgment when it comes to "african american" jokes.

just to clarify...isn't it preceived that black people generally like chicken? fried chicken? and anything with the letters "K" "F" "C" in it?
