what's in Germany in 2006?

anyway, i gave M.I.K.E. my #1 spot.. that's the only Belgian DJ that made my list though, as i haven't seen any others, except for residents at some clubs.

M.I.K.E. also got my number 1 spot, and 3 out of my other 4 were also Belgian. Not because they are my top5 dj's but because I think they deserve to be higher in the list and its a shame that the highest Belgian DJ in the list is ONLY!!! at number 62 when Belgium has quite a big clubbing history, even pionneer in several styles (not just musicwise) and has quite a large EDM scene as a proportion of the population.

The thing is with us Belgians we don't export our products or names very much as opposed to the Dutch for example, and we don't tend to do it with a lot of 'show'. I know its a generalisation but I think its fair to mention it - by al means don't get me wrong I don't mean anything bad about the Dutch in this sense...I think we should do the same and export our qualities much more, and with pride

Despite a bit of a decline in the EDM/clubbing scene in Belgium that there has seemed to be last few years I think it is still quite big and this past year seems to have grown quite a bit (quite a few new successful events, etc.). Alongside Britain, Holland and Germany I think we're still quite high up there

About M.I.K.E. again ..he would definitely be much higher up in the list if he only had 1 alias instead of 70+ Probably even in the top10 as people would get to know him if they constantly see his name appear again and again every time he has a new production or remix.

i'd love to have a clear view on how all of the votes are processed, because i've been wondering about your point as well. i'm guessing the processing software contains a fuzzy match function, so that votes containing spelling errors are accounted to the right person, but what about dj's with multiple production aliasses? i'm sure many of the voters confuse dj'ing with producing and vote for Absolute or something instead of M.I.K.E.

most likely they will type "Push" instead of "M.I.K.E."

Ah thats another point ,..but not the point I was mentioning here, but good to mention it

What I meant was that if he would use the same alliance (lets say only "Push") then people would see the same name appear over and over again and remember it.."wow this Push guy has released 10+ new tracks this year and done an xload of remixes.."

Now I think many see,"..ah, awesome new track by "Red Flag", nice tune but maybe its only a one-time wonder"..and the name might be more rapidly forgotten.

Most of M.I.K.E.'s aliases account for excellent productions but each of them (apart from Push) doesn't have that many in quantity.

Posted by Jakhira on Sep-04-2005 16:26:

I don't agree with you there, most trance listeners know enough about M.I.K.E. to realize what tracks are his imo

Not everyone's a n00b you know

Probably not on this forum Pumaz I totally agree, but all these 1000s of people voting for Tiesto..how many of them will actually know something more about trance other than the Tiesto tracks they here on the average commercial radio station.

Hehe if everybody who voted would be like the trance-minded peeps on this forum I think M.I.K.E. would be much higher already.

What percentage of the voters are actually active, passionate trance-listeners..I don't think as many as we'd hope.

that's exactely what i was saying, confusing producing with dj'ing.

dj sid is right however, people will most likely vote for the aliasses M.I.K.E. and Push, and i'm sure at DJ Mag they know it's the same person.. so i guess they programmed this into their vote processing software. but i'm just wondering what happens in case someone does vote for Absolute, or Red Flag for that matter.. i'd love to have an insight on this.

Yea I thought somebody was going to mention that about my post. I'm using the above example about different production aliases as reference to the remembering of the name..or am I just confusing myself and are we actually agreeing on the same point ?

I think we are actually heh.

I agree 100% with Synthesia.
