Bought xone 62 over 92

Hey ppl....i bought a new set of gear....
2 technics 1200 mk5
1 allen & heath xone 62

now the issue is....i hav 1.3 grand left for new speakers..JBL speakers with an amplifier

should i forget bout the speakers and amps and go for an xone 92..then i will only hav headphones to listen to music with

or should i stick to the 62 and get speakers and amps to complete the set?????
im so confused!!! help me decide...

keep the 62, buy some decent active monitors and spend the change on a cdj800. If your not into cdjs get better monitors. If you would like the amp option with passive monitors buy that. 62 is more than enough.

btw, how much were the 2xtechnics and where they new or used and where did you get them from. seriously considering getting a pair rightnow.

i live in canada so in their currency....each table cost me bout $900
the xone 62 cost me 1.1 grand and the 92 that i m undecided bout is bout 2.3 grand or so atleast i would say

you don't have speakers and you want to buy a freaking Xone 92? Whats the point of DJing if you can't hear what you're doing? Unless you have a seriously sound proof studio you really don't even need big ass JBLs with an amp. I would go with really really good studio monitors if I were you.

Posted by sleepydragon on Sep-05-2005 10:50:

it always amazes me why people want to buy the most expensive club mixers just to dj in the bedroom get some decent speakers r u crazy wish i had that sort of money to spend.

Posted by pvdalltheway on Sep-05-2005 16:18:

what's the sound quality difference between the xone 62 and 92? if it's a huge difference then i mite consider the 92...if its the same shit...then i mite just go with speakers cuz the 92 has the midi features which i dont need at all...since i dont produce that often and even if i do produce...i just use fruity loops...

Speakers. End of story.

Posted by sleepydragon on Sep-05-2005 16:30:

how do u plan on mixing without speakers anyway?
just get some good speakers

Posted by pvdalltheway on Sep-05-2005 16:34:

i hav headphones i could mix with...speakers rnt really essential ..althuogh ill hav to say that they do bring the music to the next level....its just that i wanna experience good sound and good mixing...im still learning....and the 92 is the best mixer in the market (personal preferance and opinion) ...but like i said b4...if the sound quality is the same with both 62 and the 92...then ill just stik to my 62..but if its noticeably better on the 92...then thas the one ill stik to for long long time

Posted by sleepydragon on Sep-05-2005 16:56:

u wont be able to hear what ur doing properly u will need speakers to hear what ur doing mid mix there are more essential than a new mixer u already have a mixer. Also u have bought a xone for better sound quality but whats the point if u dont have speakers to use it on.

Posted by pvdalltheway on Sep-05-2005 16:59:

i will get speakers sooner or later....but for now i just wanna know the sound quality difference between the 62 and the 92....lol but nobody seems to take a break in answering that question.

AHHHH!!!!...this is so confusing...give me a clear cut answer ... i wanna know the sound quality difference between the 62 and the 92...somebody plz answer that question

if the two has the same sound quality then ill stik to the 62 if the 92 sounds remarkably better then 92 it is
hmmm....???

Posted by sleepydragon on Sep-05-2005 18:00:

i very much doubt that u would notice any difference in sound quality if ur just gonna be using it in ur house its the same brand so its probably not much difference anyway.

Ive played at many many free parties with a xone 62. Its a solid piece of kit - built like a tank!

Compared to the 92 (I own one) its pretty much exactly the same in terms of sound quality and general feel. The 92 is basically an upgraded version of the 62 with additional features such as midi, LFO on the filters and generally nicer looking... the sound quality is exactly the same - as with all Allen & Heath mixers! Thats essentially what your paying with every A&H mixer - the sound quality! Every DJ mixer they have on the market has the same high standard of sound quality which is what they are famous for. The only reason the 92 is more expensive is because of the additional features but the sound quality remains the same for the 62 and 32 (not the V6 tho because it has ridiculously expensive valve amps for pristine sound quality)

Unless you want a 92 for the midi capabilities then I definately wouldnt change your 62.. not at all! Especially for the price you guys have to pay over in canada.

Hope this answers your question

Also, if your going to buy some speakers then I wouldnt buy studio monitors for mixing on. They just dont sound right even in the bedroom! Get yourself some quality PA speakers like the Mackie SRM 350's or 450's which put some serious muscle into the sound output. Studio monitors sound far too flat when using for mixing (unless you add a meaty sub but thats adding to the expense)

im thinkin of gettin JBL speakers with an amplifier...i heard it in the music store and the floor shakes with this!...it sounds awsome even with a numark mixer

I own the 62, and trust me, you dont need the 92. Just get yourself some speakers. The ONLY way you can really tell the difference in quality between the 2 mixers is if youre playing at a BIG club, otherwise you wont notice, especially in your own bedroom.

The only thing that I like about the 92, is that it has a rotary option. You wont be doing anything on the 92 that you cant do on the 62 as a beginner.

Posted by pvdalltheway on Sep-05-2005 23:44:

ill consider all of ur comments and think bout it tonite....cuz tomorrow i either pick up 2 jbl speakers and amp or come home with an xone 92....only time will tell!...depends what ideas go thru in my head lol

But...any last comments would really really help me in the long run! so post any replies u can by midnite and thatll help me make the best decision...thanks alot!

There is no way you should choose the 92.... if you wanna choose it cus its the "more superior, expensive mixer" be my guest.. but it will be the worst decision ive seen made in a while...

The sound will be the same through both, and without speakers your not going to be able to dj...

The mackie's shit over the JBL's, thats why normally there more expensive... get a powered one n you wont have to worry about the amp.. n ull get a bettder/louder speaker for cheaper..

if your in the bedroom, i cant justify spending $4-5000 australian n not having a set of speakers to listen to it on...

get the 62, with the speakers... your equipment is of the highest level...

If you wanna blow some money.. get yourself a Urei mixer, or a allen n heath zone v6

Posted by pvdalltheway on Sep-06-2005 02:21:

allrite....u guys win!....ill stick to my xone 62...it is the club standard after all and has a good rep...won techno scan awards in 2002 and 2003....i guess i was being too greedy just cuz i got a little bit of cash to spend...but u guys r rite..and im thankful to all of u for helping me make the rite decision
i will buy some speakers with an amp and set it up in my room
thanks a million .. all of u!

any last comments? Uh, yeah, you're wack job. Seriously, you're just starting out, you have an Allen and Heath mixer, and you're thinking about replacing it with one of the best, and most expensive mixers on the planet, just so you can mix only in your headphones!???

Talk about getting into something for all the wrong reasons.

Posted by r5a on Sep-06-2005 04:43:

I would have eaten my sock if he didn't get the speakers.

Good luck.

Posted by DJ_Hailstone on Sep-06-2005 06:24:

I think I would buy the Xone92. The reason is because Xone92 has some advantages, as many people said here on forum. For example the MIDI functions + on Xone62 you cant hear the EQ when using headphones.
You can exchange your Xone62 to 92 in your shop (+pay the price difference)?
If yes, you can buy speakers later but the ability to exchange your mixer you have only now.
+ You will have the best mixer on the planet atm, so you will not have to upgrade your mixer for a very long time!

Thats my op
