Electro Trance

Hi Trancer In Da World,

I heard Electro House.. Electro Clash..

But now i heard Electro Trance..
What do u mean by Electro Trance? Who are the DJs/Producers of it??

Lets Discuss!

Thanks!

There is no such thing as electro trance. Next?

Posted by JakeC on Sep-05-2005 17:23:

Its the style Marco V plays which was called tech trance back in 1999 then Electro Trance around 2002 and its now called tech trance again.

He did a cd for mixmag called electro trance and it rocked.

like Ferry Corsten's Right of Way album perhaps...lots of electro in there.

Posted by FastFashion on Sep-05-2005 18:10:

M.I.K.E. aka plastic boy..aka...(just look him up....)
has a lot of electroish trancey techy projects hes done...thats why i dig his stylo..

BUT if you want to go into the the electro electro world..then you'd need more poppy electro peoples like electroclash..tom craft or maybe felix da housecat or .... miss kitten...etc..i dunno...

Typing a shit buzz-word compound onto the front of a mixmag magazine does not make a genre exist.

not too keen on any of it, if your unsure get hold of one of those MOS electrotech compilations.

I didnt go see ferry the other week because he was trying his new LEF style of music (loud electronic ferocious i think it stands for)

You are all correct.

Electro trance does not exist.

Stop reading music magazines.

A lot of wot Ferry COrsten is playing just now could b constrewd as "electro trance" but tbh i dont thinkt here is a such a thing myself

Posted by Googooly on Sep-07-2005 21:49:

No it can't, there is no such thing. A lot of what Ferry Corsten plays though could be construed as "shit trance" though. Nothing he plays now, or used to play in the past, could never be considered anything remotely electro.

Thumbs up

Straight to the point.

I don't like this new direction that Ferry has taken.

would you care to explain the process by which genres get their names?

Posted by Ishkur on Sep-08-2005 00:29:

Yeah...it's usually half and half: half from the artists that invented them. The other half from the specific scenes or cities that cultivate the brand of music...it bubbles up from the underground in much the same way slang does. No one ever credits a magazine for inventing slang.

As for artist-created genres, off the top of my head:

It's canon that Juan Atkins coined techno. It's canon that Prodigy coined Hardcore Rave. It's canon that Dr. Dre coined G-funk. It's canon that Daft Punk coined French House. It's canon that Aphrodite and Mickey Finn coined Jump-up. It's canon that Mark Reeder coined Trance. It's canon that Leftfield coined Progressive House. It's canon that Frankie Knuckles and Larry Levan coined House and Garage, respectively.

...yet they keep trying.

See his first CD on the Creamfields compilation think ul find its full of electro "sounding" tracks. They are more or less the kind of tunes hes been playing live on his LEF tour. I never said wot he was playing WAS actually electro. All im saying is that Ferry himself has tried 2 make the buzz saying "electro trance" part of his style now.

chill out ffs

Posted by lcid on Sep-08-2005 05:51:

i heard a song last saturday night that immediately made me think "electro trance"... so regardless of whether it's a "real" genre or not, you may like it if you're looking for trance with a bit of electro sound...

Sugartape - Summerdaze (F&W Instrumental)

Posted by Aiwendil on Sep-08-2005 06:06:

That's not even trance....these threads...heh.

Posted by Axolotyl on Sep-08-2005 07:17:

Electro Trance? Proposterous, who would ever conciever of such an outrageous thing.

Whatever happened to just trance? You know... the good stuff they played about 5-6 years ago? Is there like a Trancy Trance genre out there?

Posted by Jordan Stevens on Sep-08-2005 11:54:

Electro Headz - West Coast Rocks

now thats an electro trance choon!!!!

Posted by Ishkur on Sep-08-2005 15:00:

I am beginning to get the sneaking suspicion that, due to its overusage in the media as the hot buzzword to refer to anything with a buzzing synth, more than quite a few people in this scene really have no fucking clue what the hell electro actually is.
