What the ppl on this forum could figure out, but not the US government
One day before the storm even hit:

Thanks for my quote.
Th reason I said that was because of a scientist/meteorologist that worried, on either cnn or fox, that this storm would cause widespread damage and death.
I found that that mans' pleas to be sincere and truthful. I didn't want it to be prophetic.
The last cat5 storm to hit was Andrew during 1992 back when Poppy Bush was pres. And that we all know was a huge disaster.

you did not just put MisterOpus1 in the same category as George Smiley and ogvh5150
Hurricanes are tricky acts of God. They are are savage and unpredictable. Katrina was a Category 4 storm that hit New Orleans. What if Hurricane Camille (in 1969) hit Louisiana head on instead of Mississippi?
Wikipedia: Hurricane Camille
Or a more modern context would be Hurricane Andrew in 1992.
According to Wikipedia, New Orleans is directly hit with a hurricane every 14.3 years and indirectly every 4. The thing is that with a town such as this, didn't anyone predict this would happen? It was just a matter of time.
You can point fingers at all levels of government from the mayor, to the governor, ultimately the president.
Star Tribune: Louisiana pork projects
Show me an honest politician.
And there is the issue of buses that he City of New Orleans could have used.
Finally, many of the people of New Orleans were stubborn and wanted to stay. Out of the 1.3 million in the New Orleans metro area, roughly 300,000 remained by choice or as their current circumstances permitted (no transportation).
What will be, will be. I hope for the best and a speedy recovery to the people and the city of New Orleans.

The leeves situation was said years ago.. even National Geographic had an intensive article from October of last year regarding the leeve's in New Orleans, how by any instense surge it would brake.. so its BS that the Gov't didnt know.
