Gotta say danny: Well done man.
I was only gonna just listen to this (with the pop-up player thing), but i just had to download it. It'll be on my playlist for a while too.
Can't offer alot in the way of constructive criticism really. I think maybe you overuse the pink noise and that rising/falling kinda engine startup sound (I've really gotta work on my musical vocab :P ), but otherwise this is a thoroughly enjoyable tune.
If you do some more work on this, could you post it up or pm me? I'd love to use it in a mix or two.
Well done again man.
There's a weird stop in the music early on in the track. It sounds to me like a CD skip. I tried to seek back to it but I couldn't find it. I dunno what it is.
Pretty good. I've gotta agree with bricky though on the white nose. Other than that, I don't have much to say about it.
I wouldnt really call this psytrance. Its far more prog than psy. Reminds me a bit of some of the stuff on J00F actually. Might want to consider sending it there if your considering labels.
Pretty damn good production wise. The structure is very progressive too which seems to work well. Theres some nice percussion elements woven throughout it too. Those bladerunner style pads are sensational and give the track a very dark feel.
I feel it gets a bit messy in the highs near the end though(around the 8 min mark)
Do you mind giving a rundown of the synths you used to create this? I'm curious... the programming is very well done =)
powerful
Simple and pretty.
Soundtrack atmosphere.Good production but too mellow for my taste...
Nice work
Hi,
Productions sounds really sweet, I concur, this sound smore progressive than psy
.
I like those kinda vangelis trump pads
.
In overall, this is really good, I was expecting some more action but that's just me good work mate
.
Kopi =o.
hey mate, its been long time since i heard something from you
nice start, that clap at 50 s maybe you could add more mid, i like whole structure, for me its more psy than prog actually, i like fxs , and that "oh" at 4 min its great
keep it up
psy / prog. doesnt really matter, its typical Danny C,
you've done alot more work on it since the last time you sent it to me,
Well done bro, keep churning them out
bricky: thanks for listening glad you liked the tune, this is completetly finished thou man, i'm not doing anymore work on this have moved onto my next project. the exessive use of white noise was intentional to create a certain atmosphere hence the reason i called it vapourise.
if theres something in particular you would like me to change i could do you a special edit so you can stick it in your mixes
thoughtlessjex: thanks for feedback man
axolotyl: man thats fantastic that you felt this reminded you of joof stuff it just so happens i kinda got some inspiration froma great joof track LSG netherworld oliver prime remix you'll hear from this his over use of white noise which i loved
as far as the synths are concerned they're all reason 3 presets just worked them myself ya know. i'm only producing little over a year so my synth work has pro as i would like, that will take time i guess.
do you really think this could be good enough for joof? dont know if its psy enough for them. anyway i sent it of to them yesterday hope for the best.
any other labels you could suggest other than joof??
blue frequency: thanks mate
sparkunian: interesting you noticed the soundtrack type feel to it as this would be my other main musical influences. thanks mate
kopi_luwak: thanks for postive feedback
mane: glad you liked this i think we have similar taste, thanks for the tips also.
kaymak: my main man and fellow irish producer thanks for continued support and keep up the good work yourself, be seeing you soon
great response all in all was'nt expecting this hopefully joof will like it as much or another record label. i'm dying to get my first release to reach that milestone.
anyone else got any feedback on it????
very nice production. only fault is the shakers, they lean too much to the right which doesn't balance the track. the synths are superb just wondering what reason presets u used and what keyboard u r using?

axolotyl: i guess your right will only find out if i send it off. never even heard of those labels you mentioned there but i'll check em out. i wonder do psy records get much sales world wide or is it still very underground
WoW this song is amazing... i'm not even done listening to it yet...
something about these psychedelic influenced tracks are just wild!
omg it just got to around 4:44 and the composition is carrying so much energy i am being uplifted by it... man...
i really don't know what to say because i wasn't expecting to find such good music today from you and others...

worldwide market thats good to know, more people hearing my material, cool. thanks for info axolotyl i'll let ya know if i have any luck getting it signed
Bass roll sounds very 'Fruitish' not really fond of it. You should make some more room for the hats I'd say, they're too far back and pushed away. Monotonish sound is annoying me to be honest. Lead sound in the break is absorbing some of the sounds, maybe check the EQ. Choir in the main break is pretty cool. Lead coming after that is ok. Overall I'm not catching your idea I think, let's keep it at this that I just dont like the style.
extalin: appreciate the positive feedback man glad you liked the track have'nt heard anything from you in a while, any new stuff in the pipe line?
jay m: sorry you didnt like the style, i think the focus on repeditiveness is for itto work in a club environment. imagine amnesia ibiza smoke machines blast out and this tune in background hehe. anyway thats what i had in mind when i wrote it.
thanks for the mastering tips also.
there is always stuff in the pipeline
(finishing things is an art in itself and i'm trying to learn that art so i have tried to refrain from posting clips any more hehe)
earlier this summer i broke my processor / motherboard while trying to apply some better heat sink compound so i took a break for a little while except for playing around in reason on my dad's 700mhz IBM (there were actually some cool projects that were started because of that but i kept running out of cpu very quickly because i like to use tons of signal processing, but i still have all the projects and hopefully they'll be reopened).
luckily i've been blessed with some good fortune lately and my cousin let me borrow a 1.7 ghz dell machine so i've been using that. i still run out of cpu quickly on the dell, but i know it's no excuse not to be able to make full songs because people used to use trackers on some REALLY SLOW machines back in the day (and probably still do... the geniuses).
it's really about efficiency and creative ways of using tools to overcome physical limitations.
it just takes more thinking ahead of time because you have to commit to things before the entire song is finished... (i dream of the day when i compose an entire song with midi and don't have to bounce down until it's done).
i think it's actually a good thing that i'm having to use a slower machine than i would like because if i learn how to be more efficient now then, if god willing, i get a faster computer, i will be able to do WAY MORE than if had not learned to be efficient now.
so... here is a clip of something i am working on in reason (put on the back burner till after the remix competition). it is totally lacking of all the percs, fx, rhythmic bass, melodies, pads, etc. that i would like it to have to be finished, but this is an attempt to learn the basic stucture of the track and get it all down without running out of cpu first and stopping the project.
i'm actually pretty excited to finish this because i usually have a good bit of trouble laying out an entire track structure and i have some good ideas for adding the rest of the pieces (if you listen to it just imagine it with all the bells and whistles
).

cpu maxing out tell me about it man. i use reason 3 and i can never play the whole track back live without maxing out my cpu and i have a pretty good dell computer. this is one of the reasons that has made me reluctant to switch over to cubase sx. i can only imagine trying to run all those cpu hungry vsts i'd never get a track done
listened to your sample still alot more needs to go into it at this stage. i dug out your remix of oceanlab satalite forgot how amazing that remix was. seriously its so creative how you came up with that from listening to the original mix is beyond me
deep and emotional i'd like to hear something else from you along the lines of that remix.
really fantastic stuff, love when producers break the rules and dont just slap a few strings synths and bass together and call it a remix like all to many remixes ya hear on labels
anyway hope you get the pc you need so you can continue on at the good standard you left off at. peace man
dj kane: sorry comrade missed your post there. yeah i noticed the shakers were arelittle off, i was just trying to fill up the mix a bit.
the only keyboard i use is the one on the side of my screen in reason
just experiment til you find something you like thats what i done. glad you thought synths were superb.
anyone else got any feedback on this one for me???
Hey Danny C,
there are quite a few nice elements in your track, I love most of the percussion (that clap is awesome). The bass is nice but could be heavier.
The atmosphere in the track is great, doomy and serious. The break is nice and the choir sound is excellent. However it takes you a bit long to get to the break, 4 minutes of the same monotonous build up is a bit too much
The break itself also takes forever. Then as soon as the break ends and kick bass choir and lead come together the track is pretty good again. I was hoping for a melodic change with the lead though.
Overall it is a solid track but it drags on too much. Partly that is because you build up very long and partly that is because the melody is too monotonous.
Cheers!
I like your synthwork. Some really cool and dark sounds. The melodies are ok imo. What you have to work on is:
1: The percussion, it's very thin now, try to mix it better and maybe at some more hh's or something. Overall try to create a better groove.
2: The structure is a bit messy i think, it now gets a bit too repetitive at the end. Also the end is not very dj-friendly.
Well, not a bad track, i hope you can use some of my tips to make it better.
nomen nescio: thanks for listening mate sorry it wasnt to yuor style, yeah melodies are defo one of my weaknesses. how can i get better with melodies can you play the keyboard? i'm thinking if i learned how to play the keyboard i'd be able to produce better more proffessional melodies
romi: thanks for the tips. its interesting you mention you felt in was a bit light on percussion, i actually thought i had too much percussion going on, its just i've noticed recently listening to the likes of asot alot of producers are moving away from lots of percussion in there tracks, i think a track sounds alot clearer when theres less percussion going on think its just a personal taste but pvd is a perfect example of this, in many of his remixes and tracks he plays theres literally on a kick bass 1 or 2 leads a open hat and clap going and it seems to work well. just an observation i've noticed.
structure wise yeah i think your right i forget that i want djs to play this so i gues you mean it fades out to quickly without enough time for a dj to mix. what tracks make use of a a more dj friendly structure in your opinion?
glad you liked the melodies and appreciate the good comments. btw you get technworld signed yet?? its defo a signing,
Very nice track here. Keep up the good work.
