Blame Canada

[QUOTE]
500,000 ecstasy pills seized

By AP

The U.S. Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement says that in August agents seized a record 500,000 Ecstasy pills worth about $9.9 million U.S. near the Michigan-Ontario border.

The bureau is trying to find the sources of Ecstasy smuggling at the border, said Brian Moskowitz, special agent in charge of the Detroit office.

Ecstasy is a synthetic drug considered part hallucinogen and part amphetamine. It became popular because of the energy and euphoria it gives to users, but it has harmful side-effects and can damage the brain.

Canada is the major supplier of the illegal drug to the U.S., says Assistant U.S. Attorney Karl Overman.

"Canada is where they make it," Overman told the Detroit News for a story yesterday.

Among two relatively recent cases:

On Aug.12, customs inspectors stopped a couple trying to cross from Canada at the Algonac ferry crossing and found 100,000 tablets under the rear seat of the car.

On Aug. 1, a Windsor, Ont., man tried to enter the United States at the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel and was found to have 94,000 Ecstasy tablets near the engine. [QUOTE]

Wow doesn't suprise me, a Montreal woman got caught with her BF in Miami with 30,000 E pills and that's just one person.

The US gov. is stupid, they banned E for no other reason than they didnt know if it had bad side effects or not... It was "too good to be true" so they made up a report full of lies about what it does and got the Gov. to declare it illegal.

And ya, i'm NOT making this up... ABC News did a special on it and talked to countless Neurologists and Pharmacists etc... I think you can watch the special on pot TV, which sounds like an unreliable source but ya it's a real documentary by the REAL ABC News, big mind opener for all you ravers.

Why are you harping on the USA? This happened in Canada.

Not to mention, you're completely wrong about this. First of all, I would take anything I hear from ABC News with a grain of salt. But in any event, MDMA was banned by default because of its relation to methamphetamine and other amphetamines. The anti-drug laws have a very broad clause stating that substances which are "related" to banned substance are by definition illegal unless approved by the FDA.

Now IMO that law is also bullshit, but this idea of "they banned it because they didn't know how it worked or what side effects it might have" is ridiculous.

I tend to agree with you...however...it is true that there is no scientific evidence to date that suggest there are any serious side affects. Now that may be simply because no long term studies have been completed in order to see what the affects are.

Why the "however?" You're right, current research indicates no side effects (other than the potential temporary depression). I was just saying that the reason it was banned had nothing to do with side effects, real or speculated. It was banned because it was a derivative of other banned substances.

I have one, I have one!! I'm a crackhead!! Now can I join?

Posted by Alex on Sep-10-2005 04:12:

Buddy Dignut, you claim my statement is ridiculous yet you cite nothing... Please provide proof as I did.

If you have the actual law in front of you, please post it!!

I posted what I saw on an ABC News program, since that's what I had to work with.

As far as I understand it, MDMA was first invented by a German scientist who earned the patent for it, he didn't know a good portion of it's uses and later on the drug was MASS PRODUCED LEGALLY in the USA by a man who was using it to treat people. And according to speeches made by Ronald Reagen and DEA officials in the USA there was no mention that I remember of it being banned as a result of it being a "derivative" of another substance, HOWEVER... I may be wrong given I only have one source

I guess I should have worded it differently, since the DEA scientists DID IN FACT INVENT SIDE EFFECTS and TESTED DIFFERENT drugs, and recorded the symptoms of THOSE drugs as the symptoms of MDMA, that's why I was harping on the USA... And they were even caught doing it, simply because other chemists and physicians stated quite simply that most of the USA's proof was wrong and very tainted.

i watched that documentary too.. its more pro-extasy than anything believe it or not... pretty weird.. i dont know who to believe anymore, the government it just a bunch of criminals.. thats why everyone should just relax and smoke a dooby

Posted by Ace_of_Spades on Sep-10-2005 06:56:

I don't wanna say that MDMA is good for us ,but the thing that i'm pretty sure of,is that MDMA is not as bad as the media's telling us.

But still,if we overdo it ,it's gonna ruin ourlives

So "I heard about it on ABC News" is proof?

I heard on ABC news that you're a fucktard.

Posted by ChemEnhanced on Sep-10-2005 16:45:

I have volunteered to be the first long term subjet for MDMA testing.

Well what exactly counts as a crackhead story...only good one i can think of involves a very wealthy, short, black american guy who was gay...after going to aria...but I;m not posting about that here.

Posted by Alex on Sep-10-2005 19:30:

Ya seriously Dignut my post was not meant to be insulting or anything it was a genuine request to see what you'd used as information so I could be better informed.

I stated what I had to work with and that was an ABC special, so ya if you're going to be an imature brat and call me a fucktard well...

The most likely thing is you were looking to start shit, which I guess is cool? I dunno, but take your E-thug shit elsewhere because my post was seriously not meant to piss anyone off and if you managed to get angry as a result of it than you're in need of some ecstacy yourself. I agree with Tag, lay off the booze and take some E, might cheer you up a bit so that you dont take things like innocent posts on internet forums too seriously.

Anyways I'm not going to continue stoking this fire I guess since Dignut will probably post something along the lines of "OMG BIGWORDS UR FUCKING STOOPID LOL", so ya whatever peace out little buddy I'm sorry you took my post the wrong way, I suggest reading it again.. And again until you realize there were no direct attacks on you anywhere within it.

Peace.

so, how come every time I try to do a bit of reading up on it I come across stuff that says E is linked to alzheimer's, parkinson's, long term memory loss and other brain problems, especially nasty bouts of depression? Of course, it usually mentions these problems when discussing users who pop several pills weekly.

I also heard it's best to wait 6 weeks (or was it 6 months?) between use so your brain replenishes its serotonin.

Takes 1 month for the brain to go back to it's natural balance. E was just recently as of a few weeks ago discovered to basically cure all the symptoms of parkinson's, researchers are working on developping a similar drug to E that can be used for medical use. There's been no long term studies so, E cannot be linked to alzheimer's. Personally I would say it has an effect on short term memory but not long term.

Oh and most of that research you probably found was done by the US gov which played with results and used different drugs to suit their purposes...any more recent studies from german scientists have proven all of that to be false. Nasty bouts of depression?...from what I;ve seen e is more like an anti depressant...and ppl dont generally get depressed. Speed on the otehr hand gives nasty depression.
