What a shambles.

Motty: "one might wonder if the coach has lost the plot here"

Think that sums it up motty.

1-1-8 is the way forward

Posted by Ste on Sep-07-2005 21:35:

fucking dogshit, why the hell cant he just stick with 442 when wer banging em in for fun,

sven istoo scared to ditch beckham and have SWP on the right instead so he tries to make a shit formation which suits beckham and nobody else.

Completely agree 10000000000% it's what ive been telling everybody. I'm pretty sure 99.9% of england would agree with this (the other 0.1% being sven)

................robinson

neville...terry/carrager...rio....a cole

swp.....gerrard.....lamps....downing/j cole

..........owen/defoe...rooney

That team in that formation is capable of winning the world cup

Posted by Ian on Sep-07-2005 22:50:

i'd also like to say that Rio has been shit in the last 2 games, like totally out of position & looking lazy. Guess he can do that on 100k a week

Posted by Coup on Sep-07-2005 23:13:

Rio was useless tonight. He peaked in this game where healey got the ball, and instead of running he stood still like a wet lettuce with his arm in the air waving to mum. The linesman has the flag, if its offside, he'll put it him, regardless if ur hands in the air or up ur arse.

Robinson and Luke Young were the only decent players on our field tonight. the team sheet posted above is pretty much bang on. Maybe Terry & Jamie centre backs as Rio's been pants lately.

I know Beckham (who seems somewhat a rejuvenated player since euro 2004), Gerrard and Lamps are all quality midfielders, but we cant have all 3 in midfield. England dont need beckham to be a claude makelele.

If Sven fields anything but a 4-4-2 which resembles something like the above, i think he may get the push.

Posted by TiestoFanMatt on Sep-07-2005 23:26:

Gerrard and Lampard cant play together imo. Beckham should still play, just shift him out wide right. Put Carrick in midfield with Gerrard.

Never particularly rated Ferdinand, so it'll be a blessing if we can get a partnership of Sol and Terry going at back. We miss Gary Neville (nevr though id ever say that).

Rooney needs to play behind Owen, not hugging the left touchline.

Tonight was a disgrace, SVEN OUT!!!

For a moment i thought i was watching the comdey channel.

I could swear bbc kept showing clips of brat camp when rooney came on aswell.

England should be ashamed.

To be fair i blame Sven for Rooneys outburst. Rooneys firey and passionate, but thats one of the things that makes him so good, so to have him exiled on the left trying to be ryan giggs is bound to wind him up, and how he reacted was only what we've all been saying on here, just he did his on the pitch! fair play to the lad.

Sven used that energy perfectly in euro 2004 but as you said hes shite on the left.

Doesn't he play for Man U on the left and manages to do quite well?

Don't most - if not all - of the England players manage to do more than 'quite well' for their clubs on a weekly basis? I hate to say it because I was genuinely excited when Sven got the appointment but the tactics and attitude of our national coach seems to leave the players confused at best, and lazy and unmotivated at worst.

Last night was an absolute disgrace and everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves, apart from Northern Ireland who were superb and who showed England what a dedicated, motivated and tactically-aware team can achieve.

i think he comedy of it all was summed up when owen hargreaves was brought on and beckham was like "wtf?"

hargreaves is only a utility player, not one you bring on when you need a goal for sure.

i think now we realise that sven has only done so well in the past on the back of the sheer talent of our squad.

I think that Beckham was expecting a striker, as you should. Darren Bent should've been given a go, he's got something about him (as has Dean Ashton) that a lot of our forwards don't have.

Northern Ireland

Really that is all, so happy

Posted by scAza on Sep-08-2005 11:11:

I definately think with the talent in England now, a monkey could pick a strong starting 11. Sven needs to fucking grow a pair of balls and drop Beckham instead of moulding the team around him. He's been a good captain don't get me wrong but I'd rather see SWP on the right and Downing/ Joe Cole on the left.

England were doing well enough with Gerard and Lamps in the middle, with Gerard playing the holding role... Granted thats not his best position but he was doing well enough there to ensure we won what was it, 7 games on the run? Perhaps sticking Scott Parker in there as a holding midfielder with 1 of Gerard/Lampard ahead of him would b the best option...

Oh and Rooney belongs in the classic number 10 position, with license to do whatever the fuck he wants, coz he's a genius. Needs to stop gettin so fuckin wound up though, whatever was the cause last night, it seemed to be one of the N Ireland bench givin him shit, or a player, or just the crowd shoutin "you fat bastard". He's gonna get it everywhere though and every team at the world cup now knows if they target him for abuse enough then he's gonna lose it and he generally doesn't get his head back and win the game for England afterwards...

ok darren bent has scored a couple of goals in the first few premiership games but that doesnt mean hes gonna do fuck all for england, and even suggesting dean ashton is laughable!

I've seen enough of them playing for the under 21s to believe they'd comfortably succeed
