What do you plan to do? production or playback?

PLEASE !!! DON'T BUY INTEL !!!

I work in a computer shop I'M building computer and Intel is really not the best right now, it was before but not anymore.

AMD 64 kick ass and are ten thousand time faster for less money.

I'd say look for something like this

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ ( or more )
Mother board ASUS A8N-E ( or A8N-SLI if you got money )
Whatch the brand of your HD don,t buy Maxtor.
Western Digital, Seagate are good

For Sound card PLEASE don't buy Creative, there sound quality suck.

M-Audio is good or even the integrated sound on the Asus board are really good and are way better then creative, you just don't have as much input you would have had on a creative card.

Video card is good

REALLY Intel 64 bits sucks ass and intel dual core are even worst thrust me. And you won't pay a lot more in fact you will pay less for the AMD

Totally I can agree with that... and if you have a years worth of photos on a hardrive back them up incase your gay hard drive breaks (even worse it was the electronics that fucked, fixable but they really shouldn't have and it still costs shit loads unless you can still buy a PCBA to reaplace it).

I've built computers too, and I don't claim I'm an expert, THRUST me.

all the guy wanted to know is what kind of sound card to get. he didn't ask what you thought of his computer. Way to take this post and take it off topic at record speed.

Also I will not add my opinion of computer hardware, and the thing I've seen with the brands that I have used through the years, as it wouldn't be helpful to the post. I don't know enough about sound cards to add anything benificial to this, and still suggest that it gets move to the production section on the forum and you will hopefull find someone that will read your whole post before just writing something he thinks will help you out, when in fact, it doesn't.

Wow sorry...

I just don't want you to have problem with your computer.

A sound card is not THE most important part in a computer and the rest of the computer is important. But if you guys don't care well it too bad for you.

About Maxtor I'd say you have been lucky cause I see them comming back like hell where I work and I only saw 4 or 5 Western digital disk coming back in 2 years.

And if I say Intel suck it because I don't want you to pay too much for something that's not worth it.

You guys wanna make fun of my english mistake that's fine I don't care but don't say I go way off topic when the guys is goign to buy something overprice for the quality it just a friendly suggestion take what you want from it.

And about the sound card I said what I had to say. Creative suck M-Audio is the way to go and that's without considering other brand but if I say that I'm goign to be off topic so I won't say anything.

That's my 2 cents.
