Love Poundin' Sensation [MEL] Private Function #31 with Stuart McKeown (IRE) – Friday September 30th

While the large serving of Porterhouse is still digesting with some, it’s been well over two hours since we last ate, meaning it’s time we got back into the pool for another few laps.

Late last year, a young lad hailing from Belfast made his way across the globe to experience colonial life in Melbourne town for a while. He arrived at our dear shores prepared as any traveller should– sprightly, full of hope, opportunity, and carrying a couple of boxes of some of the sweetest progressive breaks you’re going to hear. Melburn’s had an quite the impression on him though (as it’s prone to do), because when he leaves to return home later in the year, that box of breaks has been re-packed with some of the most twisted, deep and funky progressive-tech goodness you’re likely to hear. Yes it seems we’ve turned young Stuart McKeown on his head—Melbourne you should be proud.

It’s not all been a one way street however, as many a Stuart McKeown production has rocked a packed dancefloor across Melbourne since he’s been in town. Those regulars at Sunny will know what we’re talking about–and the rest of you will soon enough as well. As is the Australian way, we’ll probably end up claiming him as our own—just like we did with Crowded House, Pharlap or even Jimoen—but you can’t blame us really.

As he’s jetting back to ye olde Ireland soon, we couldn’t miss out on getting Stuart behind the console at Private Function–and we hope you’ll join us at Altitude on Friday September 30th when we do just that.

Joining Stuart will be three lucky contestants from the PF rotation. Drawn randomly out of a hat, under government supervision, the lucky numbers for September will be Aaron Roach, Dean Millson & Big Kev. Please check your tickets carefully. Damaged or lost tickets cannot be accepted, however all prizes can be redeemed from your local outlet. Congratulations to all involved.

Anyway.

Entry will be $15, or $10 on the guestlist. You can RSVP for the guestlist at http://privatefunction.tranzfusion.net or if you’ve got a large list then email it through to us at [email protected] and we’ll get it sorted for you.

See you on the Dancefloor...

I've never been to a PF night before.. Hmm mayb i should go to this one and see what all the fuss is about

Will it be prog like Superpitcher?

Am interested in prog again.

Posted by Dean Millson on Sep-13-2005 08:51:

LOL i'm not sure whether the tech/minimal/whatever you call it these days massive will agree with you on that comment Dr. P, but as a matter of fact yes it will.

I'm actually waiting for someone to flame me about calling it 'Progressive Tech', but in many ways i think it is. The lineup hasbeen put together with a more techy, sound in mind as each of us is definately quite enjoying exploring the sound at the moment.

It think it would be the perfect introduction to PF for you Virginia

Posted by sLiCk_NiCk on Sep-13-2005 08:53:

can i wear my PF t-shirt ? soups said my guns look big in it..

Posted by Dean Millson on Sep-13-2005 08:57:

if they look bigger than mine then no.

so that will probably be a no.

Posted by Dr P on Sep-13-2005 08:59:

I don't really get what minimal means anyway.

I think its just a term to be cool and not call it techy-housy-proggy-trancey etc etc

But I was told by a purveyor of music that it wasn't "that" minmal at sunny? Not that I knew or cared.....

anyway to the point I might actually return to PF...

Posted by Dean Millson on Sep-14-2005 04:15:

It's the week after the grand final soupsh.

St Kilda will have not played for two weeks by then

Posted by Dean Millson on Sep-19-2005 13:28:

*cough*

Looks like i was right about those Saints

Less than two weeks out and this one needs a little nudge. I should actually have a Stuart MckEown mix up for download soon –_i'll post a tracklist when i do "_

Posted by charlee on Sep-21-2005 03:50:

Have only heard a snippit of Stu's tunes....

Waiting

Posted by Dean Millson on Sep-27-2005 11:12:

Sorry Charlee, but due to slackness (partly mine and partyly McKeown's) Stu's mix won't be available before Friday. There are a coupld of his new tracks on my most recent ETN mix which is available for download by anyone if they drop me a PM. I won't post the tracklisting in here as it's already been posted in the 'slelf promo' thread and i'd hate to be taken to the cleaners by the TA Promo police

Friday is almost up us though, which is at least some consellation (or however you spell it). Set times will be ready to go in the next few days so stay tuned

Spoke to DJ Promo (Matt Solo) Is he playing?? and what time

Posted by Dean Millson on Sep-28-2005 07:11:

PMSL

he's a couple of months ahead of himself there actually.

quite a number of TA's playing that night also

but yeah, not for a few months

Posted by Anomyst on Sep-28-2005 07:23:

hahaha whoops, that is earthcore eve? I have me dates mixed up. Sorry mate!

Posted by Dean Millson on Sep-29-2005 13:06:

You just might be correct there Anomyst

Well the time is indeed nigh. Friday is almost upon us and what a PF it's promising to be. We've put together a nice little 'progression' for you all with the set times across the evening, which will be as follows...

10.00 - 12.00 Aaron Roach
12.00 - 02.00 Big Kev
02.00 - 04.00 Stuart McKeown
04.00 - 07.00 Dean Millson

As he's done beautifully so many times this year, Aaron will be kicking of proceedings from 10, easing us all into the night before Big Kev takes over the reigns (it's probably a little early for Melbourne Cup related metaphores isn't it) from midnight. It's only a hunch, and if you quote us on it we'll have no choice but to deny it, but we're tipping things will get decidedly twisted once BK takes to the console and will continue that way until our guest for PF#31, Stuart McKeown takes over the control booth and quite possibly your sanity And by 4am, knowing Dean, who can really tell what will happen after that–but what ever you do, make sure you're there so you can remind him the next day what actually did happen, we're sure he'd greatly appreciate it

So there you have it. The gauntlet has been thrown down. Let the games of the 31st Private Function begin.

Remember to get those RSVP's in for cheap $10 guestlist entry by heading to http://privatefunction.tranzfusion.net - if you've got a large list, feel free to email us at [email protected] and we'll make sure that's sorted also

See you on the dancefloor
