Question Digweed

Hi,

Total newb to this forum and relatively new to trance.

I have Global Underground by John Digweed and absolutely love it (apart from Love in Traffic which is tragicly sh*te).
I had a few other Digweed tracks like Live in London, but my HD was wiped and I lost 'em.

The problem is that I'm having difficulty finding tracks with a similar vibe to GU:Los Angeles.

Can someone please recommend similar tracks or artists with a similar sound to Global Underground?
You know the dark deep stuff like Apollo Vibes.

I have some Danny Tenaglia stuff, but its a little too tribal for my taste, and I hate the funky house/party stuff like Tiesto.

Cheers

Check out other Global Underground and Fabric releases, anything on the Fabric label is usually gold and also G&D's album Bloom

On first listen (I just got it Friday) I didn't think that Fabric 20 was that deep and dark like LA. I recommend Hong Kong as well. Try the other GU discs, too (Sydney), and my personal fav, Bedrock. Gotta love Judy, Heaven Scent, and We are Connected (which he just dropped last weekend at Spirit NYC as the last track of the set (excluding encore)

Yeah but I didn't say Fabric 20 I just said releases on the Fabric Label, they usually have that sort of vibe.

Run that one by me again?

Dave Seaman - Renaissanceesire

Definately check out Hernan Cattaneo - The Masters Series Vol 1 and 2. In fact the start of both disks on volume 2 has an intro you'll have orgasms to if you liked Apollo Vibes.

If you like them, then you definately have a Pole Folder fetish. So check out his album too (Zero Gold).

Man, I totally could have jacked Digweed's cd wallet when I saw him spin at Specs last WMC on south beach. I kick myself. *kick*

(insert apology for pointless post here)

ive had the opportunity to do this a bunch of times w/ different dj's too, but you would regret it later, it would hurt the dj more and would hurt all the people he was gonna play those beats for.
dont steal dj's cd books, if u must , steal their tracks online it hurts
them less.

Yep, I have GU:Hong Kong aswell, not as good as GU:LA but definitely worth a listen.

Some good recommendations in this thread, I will try them, thanks.

P.S one of the better forums I've seen on the net

can't say i have any recommendations for ya, but here's a good tip:

DON'T get Sasha & Digweed - Communicate

what a tedious, repetitive, boring, and utterly sucky double-disc! i'm fuckin' appalled!!! these cds couldn't move a crowd at a Parkinson's Convention!

=NOT happening with Communicate

p.s. sorry if i offended anybody. really, it's that bad though.

makes cattaneo sound like ferry!

I don't think I could ever *really* do that; I just can't help but think of the coolness factor of having Digweed's personal choon bag, you know? Also, would it really hurt him that much? They were all CDRs and I'm sure he has tons of backups and ftps with all his stuff online for situations just like that...

This is all total speculation, again, I wouldn't actually do it...but I can dream
