do your parents get pissed when you dont' return home ?

say you left at 11:00pm ,and come back 6pm the following day. how would your parents react (question only concerns those who live with your parents)

As long as I called in every once in a while to let them know on how I'm doing, they'd be totally cool with it. I'm still 19 so I'm with the 'rents. Thanks ma and steppa.

now that im 22 it doesnt matter any more hehe, but yeah they generally wanted me around. My mom was happy as long as she knew I was upstairs in my room or something. Im sure it has to do with brains and society but her knowing im camping was worse than me being locked ina room in the house. Parents usually just like you around ...kind of weird.

How old are you Brad?

For me, if it was between the ages of 18 - 20, it would have been a serious beatdown.

20 - 24 would have been the most God-awful guilt-trip the world has ever known.

my parents are so close minded

they say "what the hell were you thinking...huh....you damn bastard"

Posted by jonSun on Sep-12-2005 00:44:

since age 17 I never really had a problem

orbax is your mate? dood, wtf?

Posted by Lepanto on Sep-12-2005 00:54:

it'd go like this in my case

11:00 pm, my mom would be in the living room watching the telly "hey where u going?" followed by me saying going wherever and im going to sleep over whoevers house or something, then i'd get a call at 1 am before she goes to sleep, then a call at 6 am from my pops when he woke up, then one at 11 am asking me what time im coming home and finally 4 pm both of them being a little pissed off. it's always ok as long as they know in advance.

For the longest time my dad couldnt figure out that you could talk to people on the internet and he was like "do you ever even talk to people?"

He had to see it to believe it.

the only way to talk to people on the interwebs is through google talk. i seriously doubt the internet replaces social acitivity/actuallt being with/talking to people, its like talkin to a wall that talks back but doesnt move.

When i was 16 i went to school on friday morning and came home late sunday night and the only thing my parents asked me was if i had a good time and if i was planning on staying awake all night to do my homework

So no they usualy dont have a problem unles they need me to do something And since mobile phone have become so idiot proff that even they can use them they like it that i at least text tme once in a while

Posted by Rick D on Sep-12-2005 11:34:

when i used to live at home (up until i was 20), my parents were very liberal with me going out and coming home, i used to come home at eight in the morning, and my mum used to say 'good on you son'

Posted by chojin on Sep-12-2005 11:44:

they dont care how long im out for etc, but if i dont let them know beforehand or ring them if im going to be out all night they get annoyed.

its not the staying out, just the information trail

Posted by mellow_head on Sep-12-2005 12:03:

They won't say much, they'd only accuse me of taking drugs and laying on a floor passed out with a spliff in my mouth, but they're kinda used to it by now

my mum must have a sixth sense for those things. when i came home the next day after pilling for the first time she accused me of taking drugs because i was acting 'funny' :| this is after a few years raving and being really honest and not ever taking anything etc.

....and it wasnt like i was pulling a massive gurn either

Posted by mellow_head on Sep-12-2005 12:55:

Haha

Posted by DjSimonB on Sep-12-2005 15:09:

When I lived with them they'd have been angry at me for not letting them know where I was.

Not a problem anymore though, just moved out to student flats

Posted by kr00t0n on Sep-12-2005 15:21:

Seeing as they live 6,012 miles away, I'm doubt it

Even when I started clubbing at 16, I could go out on the friday night, and not come home til sunday, and they wouldnt really mind at all

Posted by Aiwendil on Sep-12-2005 15:42:

Hey, my parents get pissed when I DO return home. They bought me a fake ID just so I could go the strip club on Christmas. I was five at the time.

Posted by Kaidreas on Sep-12-2005 16:56:

because I'm the youngest of the 3children, I didn't actually have a hour to come home. But when I was 15-16 I was mostly home by 2-3 at night, and now I sometimes disappear for 2-3 days and very rare a week or so. They aren't angry about it, but they allways say: "sometimes it would be nice if you give us a call, so we know you're still alive"

Posted by MaxTO on Sep-12-2005 17:30:

typical convo:

mom: "where u going?"
me: "out"
mom: "when r u coming back?"
me: "tomorrow"
*I walk out the door*

sometimes, I'll come home the next day, and my mom won't even know I've been gone the whole night (she assumed I'm still sleeping)

I think she gave up trying to track me down, make sure i'm home by certain time etc. sometime about 5 years ago
