DJs with the best musical taste?

Attention on the concrete wording.

Not asking for them mllionth time who your favourite Djs are. I dont wanna know who you think is the best technical mixer, best one in set-structuring or crowd-reading. I'm not even asking for YOUR favourite style of music. I'd just ike to know who you think seems to be a big connoisseur of EDM. SOmeone with a vast knowledge and an exlusive, in your opinion, great taste in music.

My nominees

Danny Howells (eclectic and so passionate. his essential mix, the GU's, esp. 24:7 prove what a knowledgable, stylish music lover he is)

Nick Warren (variation throughout all of his GUs. He keeps surprising and evolving after all the years)

Danny Howells and Lee Burridge..both very eclectic DJs..

Yeah, but none of those DJ's play eclectic sets. It's all crappy techno music.

well its easier to judge based on albums because they are easily available to us.
in such cases, artists can make mistakes on their mixes and just start the fuck over.
when they are mixing live they cant go back.
id like to see some hot shot fuck up at a show and laf.

Pvd and yoji

I love yoji, and i realise he plays harder than most people here would enjoy, but he plays pumping hard techno, hardstyle, hard trance with the most amzing melodies, and hard dance with awesome energy, its all hard but generally different styles, and imo opinion he plays the best of each genre, he plays the most pumping techno, the most beautiful hard trance melodies, the most twisted hard tech trance, anyway im waffling you get he picture, and pvd is sorta the same, he plays trance, techno, progressive, tech trance, sometimes harder stuff, and it is always unbeleivable.

So yeah both djs incorporate genres in their sets, and imo opinion they play awesome songs from each genere

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder..

I'd say Z-Trip, but he doesn't just play EDM, so he's no better than a wedding DJ!

Coldcut.

stand up, walk to the corner of the room, face the wall and think about what you have just written.

he is the most musical person in edm.

he'll play holden and thompson and strange world in the same set and it will work.

Westbam plays some really cool tracks that I like, bit of a hard question though as there is no real answer

Mojado is one of the most colorful groups i've heard lately. I'm not gonna' say their music is the most tasteful though.

*Nick Warren <--- as mentioned by many ppl already. hes got a very eclectic taste in music as seen w/ his mix comps and dj sets. i was extra impressed w/ his track selection for his Back To Mine mix.

*U.N.K.L.E. <--- maybe they dont count cuz they are a group so more than few major musical influence but they def have an electic taste in music. thy arent afraid to experiment and remix tracks that are exactly orthodox EDM tracks. and their mix CDs kick ass!

*Global Communication (Tom Middelton / Mark Pitchard) <--- cant say ive heard any mix album by them nor hav i herad them live but their production is sure eclectic. everything from downtempo to dnb. esp tom middelton w/ cosmos. def admire their vast musical knowledge. id kill to see them do a live PA. and i dont doubt that theyd have just as an eclectic track set.

Posted by Apollo303 on Sep-13-2005 16:35:

The Contemporary DJs that I prepfer are: William Orbit , Faithless , Tiesto , and offcourse BT , and I am crazy about Jean-Michel Jarre , the pioneer of Electronic music...

Oh, damn! How do I keep forgetting Middleton! His Sound Of The Cosmos is probably one of the most eclectic sets I've ever heard. Damn him for being so unasumingly humble.
