Video Card Help

I need some help deciding on which video card to get, im on a budget and i need to get the most that i can get for the lowest price. im stuck between two choices that i saw at directron.com, an nVidia
Ge Force FX 5550 and an ATI Radeon 9550, tell me, which is better? both are 128 memory, and both are AGP 8x.

and one other question, is the ATI Radeon 9600 pro good? and is it better than the video cards i mentioned above?im wondering because i saw this but it was a little more expensive, and trying to see if its worth the extra money.

i ask these questions because I want to be able to play Doom 3 at good quality.

try www.newegg.com

They pretty much have some of the lowest prices around in the USA. If your looking for a pretty good card I wouldnt go with the 9600. I would beef up to the 9800 pro. I run that card and its money in the bank.

Yea, just make sure you dont have a via or sis chipset with the 9800 pro, then your all set! +1 for the 9800 pro as well it is the best price/performance ratio out the IMHO...if you do have via or sis, I'd go with 6600 GT.

im looking to spend only about 70 to 80 dollars,i need somthing good for a time being, because i plan to get a better video card later on when i build my computer. im looking for something that will satisfy my need for good graphics but at a cheap price, because i do plan to spend more money later, and later may be 6 months to a year,my motherboard has an sis chipset, with an agp 4x port, but i plan to get a new motherboard as well, one with agp 8x. What brand of motherboard is good?

Why is that? does the 9800 pro conflict with an sis chipset or something? and how much does the 6600 GT run? Do Certain video cards run better with certain chipsets or something?

if you have an sis, stay away from the 9800, it has issues with via and sis. And yes, some boards do run better with videocards etc etc. 6600 GT last i checked was around 150-160. It can easily run alot of the newest stuff on the highest settings (bf2 textures need to be on medium cause of the immense size of the textures...only 256 or more mb on a videocard will load them fast)
