So is caffeine. X & Cocaine occupy a slightly different playing field.

(One that kicks infinitely more ass, but I digress.)

The way I see it is that the US in having to deal with the political turmoil in Latin America in the 80s and not being able to directly confront the problem with the US being fresh out of Vietnam and American people not ready for another jungle war decided to declare a War on Drugs; and as a front to inject American money and influence into the region, Reagan had dear old Nancy appeal to mothers everywhere in a scare tactic. A tangible example needed and Rock not being able to be vilified, as the people being appealed to were children of the sixties, the Govt. used the distant, unknown and at the time odd techno scene and the NEW drugs associated with it as a way to gain support for the massive spending. Im sure everyones heard the, the stuff we used wasnt as dangerous as the stuff now line before. The image continued and now is almost status quo, oh you listen to techno, you must use drugs. What great manipulation on the governments part to con the masses and allow itself a voter supported blank check? Now as we get older, theyll need a new scheme, oh wait, we now have the War on Terrorism protect us Uncle Sam, whatever the cost.

sorry for ranting

A better way to phrase this question would be: Is trance about getting off ya chops?

And the answer is yes

saying EDM isn't about drugs is like saying christianity isn't about jesus.

Posted by richg101 on Sep-16-2005 11:38:

drugs are good. and the dance industry wouldnt be as big without them.

i have never taken any class a drugs like x and cocaine but htink they allow people to let go. i bet x makes you have a more upfront experience when dancing to trance. it also opens less imaginative peoples eyes so they also have a good time when out clubbing in a proper club environment which plays trance. but im scared that if i start taking it i will lower the effect trance has on me when im not on drugs. its always nice to be completely sober and just going mental on the dancefloor.

Posted by Ricksta on Sep-16-2005 12:17:

plenty of people take them

plenty of people have a good time with them

plenty of people takem then sensibly

they are often less harmful than a lot of things people forget are drugs (smoking/alcohol) and people are certianly nicer/happier people on them as apossed to achohol (im not including crack or heroin in my debate here, they are scum drugs)

providing people use them in moderation then its really not so bad, and dont let the goverments/media suggest otherwise to you.... open your eyes and see for yourself

well no. every since it has become illegal every single person stopped taking drugs cause they're afraid of the cops.

Posted by edubbz on Sep-16-2005 14:33:

this is an ignorant question, of course people consume drugs at trance parties but just not necessarily trance parties....weed and alcohol play a huge part in hip hop parties, i know by experience. there are drugs EVERYWHERE! the way i see it is, it depends on the environment: trance = beats, climaxes, bass, uplifting etc and x, coke and other drugs go along better with this music just how weed goes along with rap. Although like i said, drugs are EVERYWHERE!!

Ok, well I think hiphop is all about smoking weed and crack. It works both ways.

When I go to trance parties I still notice that the majority of the crowd is high, just look at the eyes and the jaw and the movements and it is quite obvious.

I have observed drug use becoming more common rather than shrinking. the popularity of meth and coke have both skyrocketed recently in my area. That being said, some places are really cracking down. Last time I went to Nation in DC it was quite scary there were at least 3 cop cars that had a person in every seat watching the line outside the building like hawks. I get searched much more often than I used to, the situation at party entrances is much more nerve-racking than it used to be IMHO.

All that and still it doesnt look like drug use is shrinking, it seems rather that people are gravitating towards dangerous stuff like meth and coke, too many stories in the news about kids in the coke scene shooting each other and fighting and break-ins and robberies almost all of it happening among that crowd that is into meth and coke, very scary stuff because the popularity of it is still rising sharply, I can't buy cold medicine from off the shelf at walmart anymore and where that medicine used to be there is a big sign that says "these medicines conatin epedrine which is used in the illegal production of methamphetamines, you must buy these medicinea by bringing the cards to the counter"(or something like that).

Anyway I would have to say yes, moreso than before

In countries like India or Taiwan, Trance is synonymous with drugs. You can easily find drugs peddlars at toilet entrances.

In Singapore, the govt is very strict with it and the penalty is harsh. As a result, hardly anyone takes drugs in Singapore. There are undercover cops inside clubs.

Question I have to ask is why authorities in other countries don't raid clubs more often if they are serious about it, just a question of curiousity.

I myself enjoy drugs responsibly. It is fun and way better than booze.

I think that lots of people take drugs only when they're going to dance. they want to feel free to feel the music. I've never taken any strong drag besides smoking grass. After smoking it I feel free the music itself is another drag then. I was on Sunrise Festival without any drug. I drank a few beers and it was good. The party was grate maybe you should try do go on a party and do the same drink 3 beers just because you are thirsty. It's really grate

Whenever I go to a party it usually requires at least 3 hours of driving to get there. Because of the necessary traveling I find it hard to drink or take drugs because I can't get home if I do. Most parties around here it gets very obvious who is high and who isnt, the bars are so small the kids on illegal drugs tend to have their own seperate corner and they all get frowned at by the people who are only taking alcohol and tobacco. While they are on them they dont seem to care but I have a hard time taking drugs at those small parties because I hate standing out like that and knowing that every kid who passes that corner is giving me a dirty look.

There have also been efforts to throw those kids out of parties, alot of promoters have no problem kicking kids out when it looks like they are high. Some places will take drinks out of your hands if you look too young, yet the young kids who go in regularly and know the promoters can get away with anythying. Wonderful unwritten rules and double standards for kids who know the right people. Alot of times the people in the clubs who confiscate drugs will keep them and either take them or sell them rather than flush them or turn them into any cops. I guess the club drug industry has always been like that though, its a very dirty thing that I don't like to get involved with. The people who run the clubs are almost always aware of it and in many cases are in on it, such things are hard to prove though and even when they are the only thing done in response is to eliminate the event.

I also don't shoot or rape people or run from the police. That doesn't mean they aren't related to rap music.

doesn't happen. i still love trance more than anything when im sober as a bird. i always mix sober for instance.

Not to entice anyone to take drugs but quality MDMA tabs + <<<<>>>> + partying, dancing, trance, whatever is a winning combination.
