why do they call it cheese?
like the message icon says kids
because its tacky... cheezy..
surely u know what cheezy means
thus the term cheez
cos it sounds cheesy...
the sorta noise made when u rub cheese against a grater
hmm but i dunno... its sorta hard to give a definition as such, prolly easier to recognise a cheesy song than define the term...
this hasnt helped eh
my definition of cheese tracks are tunez that have no creativity in em whatsoever. sure they sound alright i guess, they're danceable but they don't take you anywhere. just a track that you can tap your foot to. usually an upbeat tune with a really repetitive synth on top of a synth. like better off alone by alice deejay for example.
Cause cheese is garbage just like this thread. Bloody hell......cheese meisters like atb, darude and other assholes make music that just degrades other trance artists who make intelligent music.

ever played daddy dj - daddy dj on your computer?
when you do, you smell this weird cheesey air coming out of your computer, that's why it is called cheese
lynx is the only one to attempt to define. i myself have been wondering about the cheese question cuz everyone here says this is cheesy that is cheesy but a lot of the songs they rave about are cheesy too so what's the dividing point. i guess to each his own. i actually liked better off alone until it got played out. i still like the signum remix. download it before you trash it cuz its hella good. just like the quake remix of atb - don't stop. the first time i heard it i was shocked. and don't flame me for being a cheeser. i'm more into prog house which you could all flame me for anyways.
lost
i love cheese
Cheese is great. Sometimes, after I listen to 4 hours or so of straight "good" trance, I pop in my cd with "Better off Alone", "Castles in the Sky", "Robin Fox", and "The Warp Brothers - We Will Survive" and it puts a smile on my face.
Cheese is the stupid, silly hashed out sitcom that's fun to watch after you've just seen 2 great movies...
OMG Daddy DJ, you cannot get worse cheese than this
The clip is just so lame
I like cheese, but in VERY small quantities

U can't get much cheesier than this new song which is supposedly trance, I heard this yesterday on the radio moments after I heard that Tijs had left Gouryella, it was not a good day:
DJ Alligator - Whistle Song

...DJ Alligator - Whistle Song
That song is CRAP....some people might like it...but when i first heard it and saw the video....it made me sick...lol.
however... when sandstorm was first out... i'm sure eveyone of you went nuts to it... i remember the first time i heard it at a rave... everyone went nuts
and then hearing it in the clubs, then it started to get some radio play... then it became cheese...
so right down to the absolute basics... cheese is when it starts to make some major cash for the producer, or 'sell out'
or that's the theory behind some cheese
/flame mode on

its because when u listen to cheeze music for to long it makes u almost feel like ur smelling the worst smellest cheeze in the world!
hehe cheese what a nice subject , what can i say ? well most of us started listening to trance thanks to CHEESE hehe
cheez can be good.. just look at some of the stuff mauro picotto makes... how cheezy was that riff in like this like that..? as i sed.. cheezy needs no definition as i should think that cheezy/tacky is universally known...
cheez can be created also. as DJ Shokwav said.. sandstorm at first was a major tune.. same with 9pm... but then it got over played and it no longer hasd that sparkle.. turns into cheez.
there is a clear line in my mind between good cheez and bad cheez...
one thing i dont understand... is why ppl r raving about that emmy tune.. wont let u down... BLEH thas way too cheezy for me.. i tend to hate those 80's tunes remix things.. THEY are cheez..

thats not what i mean exactly but thats the best way of saying it i could think of..
example: while 9pm was relatively unknow.. it was regarded as trancy as fuck yeah? sweeping melodic riff with plenty of echoes and reverb etc etc
now, when we hear 9pm, we sigh and go "oh no not this again".. because we know it too well and its gotten reasonably poppy.. we regard it as cheez... not just because it has become well known.. but because atb has made a billion other tunes with the same riff in a different order..
im tryin to say what i mean but it aint workin lol..
