thread updated..remix finished

Posted by IDarkISwordI on Sep-17-2005 17:54:

Hey. Great work on the remix but the vocals need some better processing. They arent cutting through the stacatoed notes very well and theres some other parts that the vocals are drowned out. A key to good razor sharp vocals is running through a bandpass filter made with a parametric EQ. Itll be different for every voice out there but youll want to slope off the bottom end of the vocals more than the upper frequencies (see picture of filter for my voice). This is so you can crank the vocals louder which gives them the razor sharp sound. The stacattoed notes are also a bit high on the, i think, 500Hz band. Its jsut a bit too rich in that frequency range and it needs to be leveled out a little more. Good remix .

Cheers,
Zac

you know it's good, i know it's good, they all know it's good
it's good

Hey Darksword.

dude first of all..its a fun mix! no serious project, therefore i dont care too much about EQing as long as it sounds good.

second thing: if you give me the vocal parts as single tracks I can make em come in a lot clearer..but since all the material is taken from the single original track..what do you expect

Posted by Mane on Sep-17-2005 18:51:

OMG what a breakdown piano man the best work from you simply amazing

Posted by Kris Xperiment on Sep-17-2005 19:48:

Hey. Sorry for offering more worth while critiques than 'omfg this is great'. I believe in actually helping producers out so when you get a review, take it in a positive light and know that someone is only trying to help. Dont expect to get any help from people if you want to act all sarcastic about a critique because that tends to burn bridges .

Cheers,
Zac

awesome work, matt!

this makes me wanna produce again...but i dont have time at all...

Posted by TOR on Sep-18-2005 08:42:

gorgeous track, mate

i agree with darksword that the vocals need better processing, but i understand that is very hard to do when you do not have them as an acapella.

great work overall, and i'll be listening to this a lot!

As everyone said, absolutely brilliant! Moved to Music Folder >>>

Wow! What a sweet chilled production! Great Job! The only thing that could be better is the the vocals, it's a bit weak sometimes as already some people have mentioned. Never the less it's a great production for sure!

Way to post your track for criticism and then criticize your criticism.

This is quite the song here, I like how this one was put together.

Posted by tijs08 on Sep-26-2005 14:13:

absolute massive tune! Great job man!!! Melody is awesome, too bad the vocals kick in after a while... would love to see an instrumental mix, that would make many record boxes!

Posted by humstah on Sep-29-2005 03:31:

wow man, I'm a trance head for sure but I also need breaks from trance. I LOVE this track man, so mellow. This is the type of song you listen to on the way down to Los Angeles from San Fran, driving through the mountains with the ocean on the right. hahahahaha very nice man, very nice. Is the melody good charlotte's or yours?

Posted by dEEkAy on Sep-29-2005 07:25:

which one
its a mashup of different stuff..the main guitar riff comes from GC of course
all the other stuff was added by myself
