USA Set TO Invade Venezuela

according to Hugo Chavez, the socialist dictator of the country.

Chavez: U.S. Plans to Invade Venezuela

Sat Sep 17, 7:24 AM ET

WASHINGTON - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said Friday he has documentary evidence that the United States plans to invade his country.

Chavez, interviewed on ABC's "Nightline," said the plan is called "Balboa" and involves aircraft carriers and planes. A transcript of the interview was made available by "Nightline."

He said U.S. soldiers recently went to Curacao, an island off Venezuela's northwest coast. He described as a "lie" the official U.S. explanation that they visited Curacao for rest and recreation.

"They were doing movements. They were doing maneuvers," Chavez said, speaking through a translator.

He added: "We are coming up with the counter-Balboa plan. That is to say if the government of the United States attempts to commit the foolhardy enterprise of attacking us, it would be embarked on a 100-year war. We are prepared."

Chavez has been attending the summit of world leaders at the
United Nations in New York this week. On Thursday, he denounced the U.S.-led war in
Iraq and told other leaders they should consider moving the U.N. headquarters out of the United States.

To prove U.S. intentions to invade Venezuela, Chavez offered to send "Nightline" host Ted Koppel maps and other documentation.

"What I can't tell you is how we got it, to protect the sources, how we got it through military intelligence," he said.

In the event of a U.S. invasion, Chavez said the United States can "just forget" about receiving any more oil from his country.

Using that logic, I'll be looking for U.S. planes flying overhead tomorrow then...

We need a very good reason to attack them though lol

Why is it that much of a stretch?

No, it is the other way around. Most of Canada live within 250 mile of the border. And if the Canadians were going to attack it would be like in Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana and Idaho since very few American live on the border there.

Must grab my gun and defend myself. They are massing on the borders and they look and sound just like us (except the Quebecois). My neighbor could be a Canadian spy!

Panic!!!!

What is funny about Venezuela is that they have no real weapons that can really challenge the American's.

On the contrary, they are the US's fifth largest supplier of oil.

That's quite a political weapon considering the price of gas in the US is already dragging the economy down.

Of course there's always a lot more to the story than meets the eye. I don't have the time to get into it all right now, but if you do a search for OPEC and Chavez you will surely find a few interesting tidbits that would help shed light on our otherwise shadowy world of politics and oil.

prices of oil are going up because there aren't enough refineries to well, refine the raw oil to suit the demand. The supplies are more than enough.

Okay first of all i got to get on this issue, i now have a problem with your statement. I consider this article very interesting and this is a Political/Debate section that we dicuss issues that are going on in the world of politics. So please learn to respect other peoples post.

Chavez is just crazy, this guy just loves to be in the news and likes to talk a lot of junk. Well it wouldnt surprise me if Venezuelas army is prepearing for an invasion, idk if many of you remember but Cuba did that a while ago, their army went through some training to protect the Island. Like metalgear said he will attack Iran first than them, and all of you dont be surprise in the future i forsee a socialist latin america, there are many countries that are socialist and many will be to come, like in Nicaragua and Mexico.

Ok I think you did not realize the sarcasm in my remark. I was not being serious so chill-out and I do respect people's opinion. In fact, I am one of the only ones on this forum who does not call anyone else an idiot or other insults for expressing thier opinions(actually once I called Fir3tarter an idiot once but who hasn't).

Back on Topic...Chavez might have a lot of oil but why would he want to stop exporting oil to the US when we are the ones who give him the money to afford all those nice italian suits he has. Because he likes the money and the power he has from being able to threaten the US without getting in trouble. This is due to the fact that the US will not actually do anything to him as long as he does not attack one of his neighbors.

Understand this ladies and gentleman. The Balboa plan that Chavez is talking about might be true. I dont know if many of you know this but the U.S has a plan or an Agenda of every single country, especially military if we ever engage in a war with a foreign country and all those plans are sitting secretly in the pentagon. For every single nation in this planet, Venezuela, Britain, all Latin American Countries/ME/Euro etc. As i mentioned these plans are developed in a case of war, what the U.S should do if we ever engage in a military conflict.

This plans might exist for Venezuela, im sure they do. But the U.S is not going to do anything to Venezuela as long as we keep the oil coming, yeah. If Chavez ever decides to cut the oil off I can assure you that the U.S WILL do something about and take his ass off power. Understand people the U.S supported this man when he ran for Pres. in Vene, but then he turned on us. In my opinion he can keep his shiet talking as long as he wants. What i think he is trying to do is just hit the American economy hard, by no supplying oil to us, he wants to hit us hard on that. He should be more worried about Colombia than the U.S as we all know Chavez is crossing the Colombian borders to support rebellious groups is Colombia, like Las FARC etc. This man is with this people and the Colombian govt is worried about that shiet. Basically Hugo is aiding all these groups with weapons, and crossing the Colombian border illegally. One day the Colombian govt will say thats it and will take actions against Chavez, and even go to war, keep this issue in mind. An invasion by Colombia is more realistic than an invasion by the U.S.

Don't other countries in South America also despise Chavez' government? Who's to say Argentina won't assist the Americans and not Chavez?

Either way, I think the world knows how to beat the Americans these days.

No one can take them head on, but guerillas (Who are rampant in many south american countries) would most likely pop up and pose a much bigger obstacle than head on combat ever did.

Examples: Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan (Sort of, but it is more under control because of the rest of the world's assistance).

The American's need to find a new way to change a country after the initial combat... Despite what certain countries say about Americans and American soldiers (being evil and heartless blah blah) it isnt true, American soldiers are sent in to EVENTUALLY help the country (Even if the USA Government has other motives IE: Oil), some good can come of American influence. Americans and American soldiers are not evil, or heartless, they just arent like that... Mainly because they do not HATE, their enemies... They are trying to help them and often cannot because of propogandy and strongly influenced "Patriots" that have more or less been brainwashed.

Please look at the death toll of Vietnam. Also, who said it counted as a defeat? The support for the war was too low and many believed it was a war not worth fighting because of the iterest that America head in the region. Ofcourse they were wrong when the Domino effect took place and both Loas AND Cambodia were taken over by commies.

Furthermore, IF the US is planning on attacking Ven. then it's more to remove Chavez just like Panama and supposedly Haiti (LMAO). Also, Chavez isn't too popular these days so i don't know how many people would go partisan on his enemies.

Posted by Alex on Sep-19-2005 21:32:

Oh woops, I didnt mean to suggest it was a "Defeat" in Vietnam, just lots of casualties, sorry bout that.

And that probably would be why the USA would invade Ven.. To remove Chavez, sadly some people would see through that and STILL fight the Americans afterwards cause they know the USA just wants their oil.

Posted by metalgearsolid on Sep-19-2005 22:25:

The war in Nam lasted for eleven yrs, or close to that, and 50k Americans died. During the war in Korea 50k died in two years. Americans were strongly opposed to the Nam war that is why many presidents didn't win a re-election. However, in Iraq the Americans voted for Bush, again!! And if you serouisly believe that LOTS of Americans will die in Ven I believe the US will most likely use special forces and our AF. That alone should be enough to take out any enemey which is over 70%urbanized out.
